There is plenty of horse racing to get to Thursday with nine race tracks offering cards. No stakes racing again on Thursday, but there is more than enough action to be had. There is racing throughout the afternoon and evening. It’s going to be a big day on Saturday, as three 85-point races are scheduled. 85 points will be split up between four horses, with 50 going to the winner, and 5 points for 4th.
Even 10 or 5 points could be important when the points are added up in April. The final prep race on the Road to the Kentucky Derby is April 10 with the Arkansas Derby. That is a big one, with 100 points going to the winning team. Gulfstream Park, Oaklawn Park, and Fair Grounds Race Course are the most notable racecourses operating on Thursday.
Our first stop on Thursday is in Hallandale Beach at Gulfstream Park. Gulfstream Park has ten races expected on the docket Thursday, with a total of $366,000 in prize money available. Head below for our free Gulfstream Park picks for March 3, 2021.

Race 2 runs for a mile on the dirt with a purse of $23,000 up for grabs at Gulfstream Park. Big Frank and Ultimate Gift should be in the mix in the stretch run in this event. Big Frank is winless in three races, with finishes of 8th, 4th, 2nd, so improvement has been noted, and he is open to even more improvement on Thursday.
In his most recent outing, Big Frank placed 2nd behind Sidarth by 1 ¾ lengths in a $23,000 assignment. Prior to that showing, he was 4th in a $25,000 race, so I believe found his sweet spot in this $23,000 class. Expect Big Frank to make a solid run at the top prize in Race 2. He likely won’t be able to draw clear in the stretch, though, and must contend with Ultimate Gift for the win in this race.
Ultimate Gift is coming on nicely for Todd Pletcher, finishing 10th and 3rd in two performances. That wasn’t the most ideal start to Ultimate Gift’s career, but this is a $350,000 horse that should do much better in lower classes. In his most recent outing, Ultimate Gift showed 3rd in a $39,000 event, finishing just over 5 lengths away from a win. Sliding all the way down to a $23,000 race should help nicely. A win should be within his sights.

Distance:6 ½ Furlongs
We are off to Race 4 at Gulfstream, which is a 6 ½ furlong worth $35,000 on the dirt. Nine horses are expected to compete in this race, with Jamsstar and Vegas Weekend horses to watch closely here. Jamsstar has finished 3rd, 4th, 5th, 10th, 2nd in his career. She placed 2nd behind Ms V Time by 2 lengths in a $32,000 event on February 5.
This was a nice finish for Jamsstar after struggling in a higher class. She is inching up to a $35,000 event on Thursday, but this shouldn’t be too much tougher. Expect Jamsstar to be thereabout at the wire. Vegas Weekend has finished 7th, 2nd, 2nd, 2nd, 3rd in her career going into Thursday. This looks like a winninable opportunity for Vegas Weekend.
She placed 2nd in three straight outings before that was broken up on February 4. That was still a promising showing for Vegas Weekend, as she finished 3rd in a $39,000 event. This was after placing 2nd behind Snackster by 3 lengths in a $39,000 assignment. The small drop in class represents one of the easiest Vegas Weekend has participated in. There should be some value to be had.

In our final look at Gulfstream, we will make a win bet wager on Race 8. This looks like a race between Game Boy Benny and Soldollie, who are both running in nice form at the moment. Game Boy Benny is 4 for 23 in his career, finishing 3rd and 2nd in his previous two entries. He showed 3rd on January 13 in a $44,000 event, and then placed 2nd on February 10 in his next outing.
Game Boy Benny placed 2nd behind Soldollie by a neck as a big underdog. That was not expected from Game Boy Benny, as he didn’t attract much money from bettors. He failed to win, but it was a nice effort nonetheless. Soldollie is 8 for 20 in his career, including that win against Game Boy Benny on February 10. That was the sixth straight event that Soldollie has finished in the top-3.
Soldollie was a winner prior to that outing as well, beating Vinnie Van Go by 1 length in a $44,000 assignment on January 13. It was the third win in four outings for Soldollie. In a rematch against Game Boy Benny on Thursday, expect more of the same with a Soldollie win in Race 8.
