Indiana Grand Selections for August 3, 2021 – Horse Racing Picks

BetOnline has 13 racecourses available for wagering on Tuesday. Not bad for a midweek card in North America. Arizona Downs has a very small stakes race with $20,000 in prize money, and a $35,000 stakes event at Assiniboia Downs in Winnipeg. Colonial Downs had a few $100,000 stakes races yesterday, and we were able to sweep with three wins, two of which were stakes races. Wednesday should be a pretty fun day with four stakes races, including the $150,000 New York Stallion Stakes at Indiana Grand.

Post Time: 2:56 p.m. EST
Distance:6 Furlongs

Race 2 covers 6 furlongs for a $25,000 purse on the dirt. Game Boy Benny and Naughty Alfred should be in a good spot to win in this spot. Game Boy Benny is 5 for 28 and has finished 3rd, 2nd, 1st, 3rd, 6th, 5th, 3rd in his previous six attempts.

Game Boy Benny was a 4 length win over Rough Entry for a $48,000 purse. Since then, though, Game Boy Benny hasn’t been in the same form and has been off the mark. He is coming off an acceptable performance on July 12. Game Boy Benny showed 3rd in a $21,000 assignment. It was acceptable, but he wanted more. Perhaps he’ll get it Tuesday afternoon.

Naughty Alfred is in the best form of his career at the moment. He’s finished in the top-2 in four straight performances going into Tuesday. Naughty Alfred had a hat-trick from April 27 to May 24. In his latest win, Naughty Alfred beat Tale of Fame by a head for a $19,000 purse. In his most recent attempt, he placed 2nd behind Tale of Fame this time by 1 ½ lengths. He should win a close one at the wire given his consistency.

Post Time: 3:58 p.m. EST
Distance:1 1/16 Miles

Race 4 is a $20,000 event covering 1 1/16 miles on the turf. Look for Bless the Kitten and Zanesville to have a good chance of leaving the track Tuesday with a winning performance. Bless the Kitten is 5 for 17 in his career and has been a model of consistency since December.

He’s gone top-3 in his previous nine attempts before that came to an end recently. Bless the Kitten was a winner on June 9 with a 1 ½ length win against Valcoyve by 1 ½ lengths for a $16,200 win. He’s gone 1st, 1st, 4th in his previous three attempts. Bless the Kitten failed to follow up on July 9 in his most recent outing.

He finished 4th for one of his worst performances in a while. Bless the Kitten was 4th in a $16,600 assignment and was off the pace by over 5 lengths. That said, if Bless the Kitten runs his usual race, then expect him to be much closer this time around. Bless the Kitten should be better this time around. Zanesville will provide a big challenge.

Zanesville is 12 for 36 in his career and has been a consistent force. Since October, he’s finished top-3 in nine of his previous ten attempts. Zanesville is looking for a hat-trick after winning a $20,000 and $16,500 assignment in June and July. If he’s on his game the No. 3 should be tough to beat.

(6) White Silver Sands
+3000 (30/1)
(7) Rapa Nui
+160 (8/5)
(8) Sha Kon O Hey
+500 (5/1)
(9) Punkster
+3000 (30/1)

Post Time: 6:02 p.m. EST
Distance:1 1/16 Miles

Race 8 is the feature race at Indiana Grand on Tuesday afternoon. This is a $38,500 event on the turf covering 1 1/16 miles. Presto Bench and Rapi Nui highlight my shortlist in this event. Presto Bench is winless in seven appearances, but should have a good chance of scoring on Tuesday. He’s coming off a productive performance on July 14 to go 3rd for a $38,500 purse. That was a solid run despite not resulting in a win. Prior to that run, Presto Bench finished 5th in a $35,000 event.

Rapa Nui has finished 7th, 2nd, 3rd in his career, placing 2nd on May 12 with a strong performance. He was 2 ¾ lengths behind Book of Romeo for a winning run for a $35,000 purse. In his most recent attempt, Rapa Bui showed 3rd for a $33,000 purse on June 22. He’s in good form at the moment and should have a slight edge over Presto Bunch at the wire in this spot.
