Tuesday has eight more cards at BetOnline across the US. It’s great to see the action heating up in the spring, with much more action available early in the week. Then on the weekends, we have plenty of the big players operating. In other words, there is no shortage of racing cards on the track from now until the winter months. Horse racing is an every month sport, but from Triple Crown season to the Breeders’ Cup in November feels like the horse racing “season”.
Our next notable race on the docket is the Preakness Stakes at Pimlico in two weeks. Medina Spirit will look to complete the second leg and go to Belmont Park with a chance to win the Belmont Stakes and Triple Crown. It would give Bob Baffert his third Triple Crown to break the record for the most for a trainer. He hasn’t shown any indication or retiring soon, so Baffert has time even if it doesn’t happen in 2021. For our first card Tuesday, we’re at Indiana Grand in Shelbyville. Indiana Grand has ten races worth a total of $209,000 on Tuesday afternoon. Head below for our free Indiana Grand picks for May 4, 2021.

In the first race at Indiana Grand, seven horses are expected to run 5 furlongs for a $31,000 purse. This looks like a race between Offaly Fast and Guns Up. Guns Up has a chance on the inside rail. She will be making his debut on Tuesday and could be a surprising performer. All reports indicate that she is ready to go and should compete.
Guns Up has completed 3 furlongs in 35 seconds and 35.20 seconds in prep work for this event in April. There hasn’t been a lot of success from the other runners in this event in their careers, so taking the rookie to win against a beatable field doesn’t look like a bad idea. Offaly Fast is likely going to be the biggest competition for Guns Up.
Offaly Fast has some experience with two finishes of 3rd and 4th. As a rookie, Offaly Fast showed 3rd on April 2 in a $60,000 assignment. That was a nice first-time race for Offaly Fast, who could have easily won a $31,000 race with that same ffort. Offaly Fast came back on April 18 to go 4th in a $60,000 assignment. Down to $31,000 on Tuesday, look for Offaly Fast to clear in the stretch.

Distance:5 ½ Furlongs
We have a 5 ½ furlongs race for a $14,000 purse in Race 3 on Tuesday afternoon. Look out for Sharp Justice and Pawn in this event. Sharp Justice has gone 10th and 3rd in two performances. She finished 10th in her debut in a $33,000 event.
That was too tough, but she showed improvement in her next outing on April 14. She showed 3rd for a $12,000 purse. That puts Sharp Justice in the right direction going forward, though she will still need more to win on Tuesday afternoon. If she can show improvement, then a win shouldn’t be that far away.
Pawn should be her biggest opponent. She has appeared in three races in her career and has finished 10th, 2nd, 3rd. As a first-time runner, Pawn struggled in a $33,000 event, and then showed up for a better effort on October 28 in a similar race for a $33,000 race. Pawn most recently showed 3rd on November 12 in another $33,000 assignment.
She has the talent to compete in classes more than double about this level. However, Pawn is dropping to a $14,000 event on Tuesday and searching for nothing but a win. Anything less than a winning run would be a disappointment for Pawn. Expect her to be able to get this job done.

Distance:5 ½ Furlongs
Race 9 covers 5 ½ furlongs for a $15,000 purse in the next to last race of the afternoon. Pay attention to Tale of Fame and Naughty Alfred in this event. Tale of Fame is 9 for 37 in his career, with a win in his most recent performance on April 13 over Sandhill Sammy by 3 ¾ lengths in a $15,000 event.
That was a good win for Tale of Fame to end a six race winless drought. He finished 8th, 6th, 7th leading up that race, so it was a nice response for Tale of Fame. Prior to the win, Tale of Fake was 7th in a $14,00 event. Which Tale of Fame are we going to see today? If it’s the horse from April 13, then Tall of Fame is going to be right there at the wire. Don’t bet on it if you believe that was an outlier, though.
Naughty Alfred is 8 for 19 in his career, with two wins in his previous three attempts. He’s gone 1st, 4th, 1st in his previous three outings. Naughty Alfred is coming off a 3 ½ length win for a $32,500 purse on April 27. That was an impressive win. He also recently won a $22,000 event by 1 ¾ lengths on March 6 as well. Similar form should be more than enough to pull away in Race 9 at Indiana Grand.
