2010 Kentucky Derby Winner Predictions:

Lookin at Lucky – Despite being in the 1st post position, Lookin at Lucky remains the favorite to win the 2010 Kentucky Derby, after going 5 for 6, including 3 Grade 1 wins as a 2-year old last season. Lookin at Lucky has been good in his lone race so far this season, as the horse won, despite traffic problems in the Grade 2 Rebel race. His Hall Of Fame Trainer Bob Baffert has three Kentucky Derby victories to his name, and the horse himself handles very well in dirt, which was proven many times last season. Due to the injury of Eskendereya, Lookin at Lucky is the primary horse to win the 2010 Kentucky Derby, and could very well be covered in roses at races end.

Dean’s Kitten – An up-and-coming horse that could contend for a 2010 Kentucky Derby victory is Dean’s Kitten, seeing as the horse’s best races are likely ahead of him, and not behind him. In his last 2 starts, Dean’s Kitten has showed improved positional speed, which could come in handy once the gates open in what will be a crowded Kentucky Derby race. Dean’s Kitten would be a surprise if he were to come out and win this race, however the reward for betting on this up-and-coming horse would be a great one.

Longshot Winner: Jackson Bend – For my longshot prediction, I will take the best 2-year old horse in Florida last year, Jackson Bend. A 100 Beyer performance in the $400K In Reality at Calder last October led to him being privately purchased and turned over to two-time Derby Winning Trainer Nick Zito. There is no doubt that Jackson Bend gives it his all when he walks out onto that track, seeing as he has finished 1st or 2nd in 9 starts so far. Look for this Florida-raised horse to beat expectations at the least in this year’s Kentucky Derby.
