Mountaineer Park returns on Tuesday night in West Virginia. Following a perfect night on Sunday with three winners, we were back at Mountaineer Park on Monday night with a couple of more winning horses. It wasn’t perfect, but two for three isn’t a bad night at the office in West Virginia. Between Charles Town and Mountaineer Park, I’ve had plenty of success in the state. Tuesday is another relatively slow day for horse racing. There aren’t a whole lot of cards out there, with BetOnline offering Delta Downs, Mountaineer Park, and Parx featured on Tuesday.
We have you covered for the Parx card today with a couple of picks. There isn’t much else that catches my attention in Philadelphia. At Mountaineer Park, there are three races to get to tonight. There are a total of nine races at Mountaineer Park on Tuesday for a total of $88,800 in prize money. Head below for our free Mountaineer Park picks for December 1, 2020.

Race 3 gets us going on Tuesday night at Mountaineer Park. Race 3 is for a modest purse of $6,900 on the dirt. Jovial John and Captain Machen are expected to have sharp runs tonight. Jovial John gets the inside rail out of the gate from the No. 1 post position. He is 2 for 5 in his career with finishes of 8th, 1st, 9th, 1st, 6th.
Jovial John has therefore been up and down. In his first win, Jovial John beat Strong Heart by 2 ¼ lengths for a $15,500 purse. Following that effort, he finished 9th on September 9. That was in a $17,800 event for Jovial John. He was able to get back on track on October 25 with a ¾ length win in a $17,800 event.
However, his inconsistent career continued with a 6th place finish on November 25 for a $19,000 purse. While that was a much higher class than this assignment, Jovial John didn’t look good at all and was dead last. He faded hard and something looked off. We’ll see which Jovial John heads to the gate on Tuesday, that performance isn’t a good sign.
Captain Machen has finished in the top-3 in five of six races in his career. He won on February 8 in a $18,000 event over Tranquil Blue by 2 ¾ lengths. After showing 3rd in a $19,000 race on March 5, Captain Machen went on a layoff and will return today. He’s had some strong workouts and should be ready to perform.

Distance:5 ½ Furlongs
Race 4 is another modest purse at Mountaineer Park on Tuesday night. This is looking like a race between Gatto Marrone and Not Again Jackie. Gatto Marrone has been inconsistent throughout his career, but could certainly strike tonight in this event. He has gone 1st, 5th, 3rd, 5th in his previous four outings.
In the race he won, Gatto Marrone defeated Harrison Knows by 1 ¼ lengths in a $10,000 assignment. Gatto Marrone showed nice kick in the second half of the race, having gone from 5th to 1st. However, Gatto Marrone has finished 5th, 3rd, 5th since then, so not the best results.
In his most recent appearance, he was 5th in a $6,800 assignment. A lot more was expected out of Gatto Marrone in that performance. Instead of being a factor in the race, Gatto Marrone did not run as expected. He should be able to bounce back for a better outing on Tuesday, though that doesn’t necessarily equate to a win in this one.
Not Again Jackie is a winner in 1 of 13 races in his career. He won on January 3 in a $10,000 event by a length. Since then, Not Again Jackie has been up in class competing for bigger money. It didn’t go too well, as Not Again Jackie is winless in six straight races.
That said, he was in the top-3 in four of those outings, and has a much easier assignment on Tuesday. Not Again Jackie showed 3rd in a $10,300 race for his most recent effort on November 18. Down in class for tonight, expect to see Not Again Jackie getting much closer than that, with a good opportunity to win verus this field.

Race 9 is the final race at Mountaineer Park on Tuesday night. This is for another modest purse of $6,900, which covers 6 furlongs. Tin Can Allie and Becauseshecandoit should be worthy of consideration. Tin Can Allie is looking to get back on track after finishing 5th in three straight races. She has gone 2nd, 1st, 3rd, 5th, 5th, 5th. Overall, Tin Can Allie is a winner in 2 for 13 races in her career. In her last win, Tin Can Allie won by 9 ½ lengths in a blowout for a $6,800 event.
Since then, she has finished 3rd, 5th, 5th, 5th, so it’s been a struggle. In her most recent outing, Tin Can Allie finished 5th in a $6,900 event on November 10. That wasn’t encouraging, but she is capable of a lot more than we saw in that performance. Look for Tin Cat Allie to be much closer at the wire in this race. Becauseshecandoit has finished in the top-3 four straight performances, including a win on October 12 over Wild Looker by ¾ lengths on October 12.
In her most recent outing, Becauseshecandoit placed 2nd behind Playful Union by 4 ¼ lengths for a $6,900 purse. She had the lead at the top of the stretch, but failed to keep things together late into the race. This assignment should be a bit easier for her on Tuesday. That’s all it should take for her to get back to the winner’s circle on Tuesday night. I’m going to side with Becauseshecandoit to win the final race of the night at Mountaineer Park.
