Some night racing is scheduled in West Virginia on Sunday Night. There aren’t a whole lot of sports on at the moment in the US, but today is an NFL day. Not everyone cares for NFL betting, though, so you might be interested in playing the ponies today. Besides Mountaineer Park, there’s only Sunday Night Football on tap today, albeit a really big game between the New Orleans Saints and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
If you are interested in NFL prop betting, I have a couple of picks for the big showdown in Tampa. Yesterday was a huge day for horse racing, with the running of the Breeders’ Cup Classic. While we didn’t in that race, we were still about to make it a profitable outing with two wins at Keeneland. Our big win was on Gamine in the Filly and Mare Spring (Gr. 1).
Over in West Virginia, Mountaineer Park has a nine-race card available for a total of $104,100. The stakes are a lot smaller at Mountaineer on Sunday, but we can still make it another winning day on the racecourse. We also have horse racing selections at Golden Gate Fields on Saturday. Head below for our free Mountaineer Park picks for November 8, 2020.
Post Time: 8:06 p.m. EST
Distance:5 ½ Furlongs
Race 4 is our starting point at Mountaineer Park on Sunday evening. This race will begin shortly after 8:00 p.m. EST, so just before the start of Sunday Night Football. Eight participants are expected to run in this event. Happy Issue and Backcat should present bold bids in Race 4. Happy Issue is 10 for 40 in her career, and has finished in the top-3 in four of her previous six performances.
Backcat is coming off her best performance in her latest outing on November 4 at Mahoning Valley. It ended a three-race drought for Backcat after winning in August at Thistledown. Backcat won by 1 length over Cool Iris in a $10,500 event for 6 furlongs on the dirt. With Happy Issue sliding down in class to a $7,700 race, you have to expect that she must be in contention in this race.
Backcat is 4 for 14 in her career, and has finished in the top-2 in four straight performances. She has also finished in the top-3 in six straight. That stretch includes three wins for Backcat, including in her most recent race on June 11. Backcat won by 4 ¼ lengths in a $29,000 event. It was the second of two wins for Backcat in her previous three entries.
She also won on March 6 by 5 ¾ lengths over She’s a Lil Pistill in a $12,000 race. After the $29,000 win for Backcat, she went on a break and returns to the racecourse on Sunday evening at Mountaineer following outings at Charles Town. If Backcat runs in the same form as she did in her most recent performance, she is going to find a win in this one with relative ease.
Post Time: 8:50 p.m. PST
Race 6 is our second and final selection for Sunday night at Mountaineer Park. If you want more horse racing picks, be sure to check back on Monday where I will have additional selections. Calling India and Unbridledselection are expected to run strong races in this event, which covers 6 furlongs on the dirt for a $17,800 purse. Calling India is 1 for 13 in her career, with finishes of 1st, 9th, 4th, 2nd in her previous four entries.
Calling India won on May 30 by 1 ¼ lengths over Bayou Bougie in a $17,000 event. Since then, Calling India has gone 9th, 4th, 2nd. She placed 2nd on October 5 in her most recent outing by 2 ¾ lengths behind S S Alternate. S S Alternate was the favorite in that $17,800 race, and she was just a bit too much to catch. Calling India angled inside in the stretch, though didn’t have enough then.
Unbridledselection has been in nice form recently to finish in the top-3 in three straight performances, along with the top-3 in seven of her previous eight performances. She made her best race on October 20 where Unbridledselection won by a nose over Ultra Diva in a $15,500 event. Unbridledselection gets the inside rail, and over 6 furlongs of running, that should help give Unbridledselection the edge on Sunday night. She is the most consistent horse in this race, and it should pay off versus this field.
