There are 11 tracks available for wagering at BetOnline on Friday. We already have you covered at Laurel Park for the afternoon, so you can head over to the Laurel Park page to find three picks there. Along with Laurel Park, we are going to be at Penn National Race Course on Friday evening. Post time for the first race is scheduled to begin at 6:00 p.m. EST.
Penn National Race Course always has a packed backside with horses. They tend to offer cards with 11 or 12 races. Some of those races have big fields, so there are a lot of horses that call Penn National Race Course home. This isn’t a track that hosts the biggest of races, but if you are looking for a lot of action, then Penn National has you covered.
There will be a healthy dose of stakes racing on Saturday, with Fair Grounds leading the way with the most. Gulfstream Park has the biggest race with the running of a $200,000 stakes event. That’s a small feature race for a Saturday, but that is generally the case towards the end of the year. Penn National has a total of $175,600 on the docket today. Head below for our free Penn National Race Course Daily Double and Pick 3 selections for December 11, 2020.
Post Time: 6:26 p.m. EST
Our first selection at Penn National Race Course will be Race 2, which is scheduled for a 6:26 p.m. EST post time. Big Shot Posse and Susi Sole should have a strong race in this event. Big Shot Posse is 1 for 19 in her career and looking to get back on track today. She won on November 21, 2019 and has been winless in eight straight races. That said, Big Shot Posse has placed 2nd in two of her previous three entries.
She placed 2nd behind Kate Carmack by 10 ½ lengths on October 7. Not close to a win, but was able to pick up place money. In her next performance, Big Shot Posse placed 2nd behind Intoxicologist by a half length to get much closer. However, she regressed to 4th in her most recent showing for another $10,800 purse. Big Shot Posse remains in the same class from those three races. This should give him a decent opportunity to get back on track Friday.
Susi Sole will be tough to overcome from the No. 1 spot. She has finished 2nd, 1st, DNF, 2nd in her previous four performances. In her most recent win, Susi Sole beat Square Peg by ¾ lengths for a $10,000 purse. She ran well in her last race on November 27 at Penn National. Susi Sole came up short by a half length in that race after giving way late. She had a 2 ½ length lead going into the stretch but weakened in the mile and 70-yard event. In a mile race, that would have been enough for a win. She should find this race more suitable on Friday.
Post Time: 6:52 p.m. EST
We will turn over to the next race at Penn National with Race 3. This race covers 6 furlongs for a $10,000 purse. At Penn National, you are generally going to find races in the $10,000 class or thereabout. I have Lord Simba and Pray With Faith on my watchlist here. Lord Simba is 5 for 32 in his career, but his fifth win was a while ago on February 8.
He has gone winless in nine straight outings since then. Lord Simba has been in good form recently, though. Lord Simba showed 3rd on September 28 in a $10,000 event, and then placed 2nd on November 13 in a $10,000 event behind My Bernie by 2 ¼ lengths. This horse was purchased for $300,000 in April of 2015.
After winning the $100,000 Los Angeles Stakes (Gr. 3) on April 15, 2017 at Santa Anita Park, Lord Simba hasn’t looked like a $300,000 horse, though. Racing for $10,000 wasn’t the plan for the $300,000 Lord Simba. Expect him to run close in this race on Friday, though. He should face resistance from Pray With Faith late in the stretch.
Pray With Faith is 6 for 24 in his career and came close in his most recent attempts on November 11 and November 25. He placed 2nd behind Page Down by 4 ¾ lengths for a $10,000 purse, and then Gone Inzane by a half length. He was gaining fast, but failed to close out the win. Pray With Faith should get it done on Friday.
Post Time: 7:18 p.m. EST
Race 4 is the final leg of our multi-bet at Penn National Race Course on Friday. This event is for a $31,600 purse, the largest of the day and represents the feature race. Morgans Melody and Amigos Tune should get into it in the stretch. Morgans Melody is a three-time winner and completed a hat-trick to open her career. She was denied a fourth straight win recently, but can rebound today. In her most recent victory, Morgans Melody beat Yellow Chick by 8 ¾ lengths for a $15,400 win. It was an impressive wire-to-wire win, and the only place to go was up in class.
Morgans Melody finished 4th in a $31,600 assignment on November 13. I don’t think it’s any coincidence that Morgans Melody fell out of the top after moving up that much in class. Amigos Tune ran in that race as well, and she ran a bit better in that event. Amigos Tune placed 2nd behind the winner by 1 ¾ lengths. She was 4 ¼ lengths up on Morgans Melody. Amigos Tune is 3 for 11 in her career, with back-to-back 2nd place efforts recently. Before placing ahead of Morgans Melody, Amigos Tune placed 2nd behind Chilly Sky by a head in a $31,600 assignment. She has the experience in this class, and it should help give her the upper hand on Friday evening.
