We wind down the final week before Christmas with five racecourses on Tuesday. BetOnline has five tracks for wagering today, with Huntingdon a new addition to the lineup. There are also three or four harness racing tracks likely going to be available. Mohawk and Yonkers the biggest of the harness tracks with meets at the moment. Penn National Race Course was absent on Monday, but they step up on Tuesday for a full card.
The last time we handicapped Penn National, we cashed in for a nice Daily Double and Pick 3 win on a multi-bet. That was a nice day, which included two Daily Double wins and the Pick 3 to cap it off in the same three races. The next biggest stakes race in the US is on December 26 at Santa Anita Park. There are three $300,000 Grade 1 races at Santa Anita, including the Runhappy Malibu Stakes.
Penn National Race Course is expected to have 11 races completed on Tuesday evening in Pennsylvania. A total of $164,900 in prize money is available to be won in these 11 events. Head below for our free Penn National Race Course picks for December 22, 2020.

The feature race at Penn National Race Course will happen right out of the gate in Race 1 on Tuesday evening. Race 1 has 6 furlongs of racing for a $27,100 purse on this card. We’re keeping an eye on Life Master Cathy and Sweet Mesa leading up to post time. Sweet Mesa made her debut on November 25 and ran well to finish 4th in a $27,100 purse.
As a first-time runner, it was a fine performance by Sweet Mesa. She is certainly open to improvement after that race, though. Rookie runners can always be a crapshoot, as some just use it to get comfortable on the track. I wouldn’t be surprised if we see a better run, thus moving up from 4th to somewhere in the money in the top-3.
Life Master Cathy has finished 2nd and 4th in her career. She placed 2nd as a rookie behind Prodigy Doll by 4 ¾ lengths in a $27,100 on October 2. Immediately after, Life Master Cathy went stakes racing in the $80,000 Shamrock Rose Stakes (Black Type). She finished 4th which wasn’t terrible given the assignment. Life Master Cathy is coming off a couple of impressive workouts in December, with times of 48 and 48.20 seconds. The No. 1 horse looks like the play.

We’ll jump over to Race 2 at Penn National on Tuesday evening. Race 2 is a mile event worth $10,800 on the dirt. Just Got Hitched and Biff are likely going to be involved in the stretch run. Biff has been in better form recently after a tough stretch. He recently won his first race on September 18 after failing to finish in the top-3 in six straight assignments. Overall, Biff is 1 for 10 in his career. In the win, Biff defeated Vishnu in a blowout by 8 ¾ lengths. Was that an outlier, though? Biff returned on October 30 and finished 4th in a $14,400 event. That was just a little too tough for Buff, and is back in a more comfortable class on Tuesday.
Just Got Hitched will be running from the outside, but fortunately it’s a mile race and shouldn’t impact him too much. He has finished in the top-3 in five straight events, and in his first career race before that streak, Just Got Hitched was 4th on July 15. Just Got Hitched is coming off a 4 length win over Seize the Day for a $15,400 purse. He took over the race at the top of the stretch with a 2 ½ length lead, and then built on it to drive clear in the final furlong. This race should prove to be a winning run for Just Got Hitched at this level.

Distance:5 ½ Furlongs
Race 4 is our final selection at Penn National on Tuesday night. This event covers 5 ½ furlongs on the dirt for a $11,800 purse. Bria and Gigi and Release Me could get into it in the stretch. This race could develop into a close battle between them. Bria and Gigi is winless in 11-career races, having finished in the top-3 in three of her previous four outings. She was stopped in her attempt to make it four in a row on December 9. Bria and Gigi finished 4th in the $11,800 event. She was well back of the leader by over 10 lengths. She should be able to run better against this competition on Tuesday.
Release Me is winless in six-career races. She placed 2nd behind Lady Mistress by 1 length for a $10,000 purse, and then struggled like Bria and Gigi in her next assignment. Release Me finished 4th in a $17,000 event, which was much tougher than the event Bria and Gigi was 4th in. Release Me was a lot closer to the front as well, with just around a 3 length disadvantage behind the winner. Either of her previous two efforts would likely be enough for a win on Tuesday. The talent in this one shouldn’t be too difficult to navigate.
