Remington Park continues their quarter horse meet in OKC on Friday. There are ten races on the docket with hopefully a couple winners in our future. It wasn’t a bright day yesterday, as we went 0-1-1, with one of our horses getting scratched prior to the race. Louisiana Downs provided a solid profit during their quarter horse meet before they suspended racing. However, Remington Park hasn’t been as nice to me. Mr Jess Jekins was one of the easiest picks I’ve made this season, but other than him, I’m looking for some traction here. Quarter horse betting is highly entertaining, though. Regardless of the outcome, I am still having a good time betting at Remington Park. Having said that, Gulfstream Park has been a lot better money wise recently.
Don’t expect Remington Park to pull the plug on their racing like Louisiana Downs did. Louisiana Downs was close to finishing their quarter horse meet before the carpet was pulled out from under them. That was certainly understandable because Louisiana was getting hit hard with the coronavirus and their hand was forced. Oklahoma doesn’t have the same situation for the moment, and hopefully don’t in the future either. Remington Park is likely going to be good to go into the summer. Hopefully we are good for a winner or two on Friday in Oklahoma. Head below for our free Remington Park picks on April 10, 2020.
Post Time: 6:00 CST
Distance: 550 Yards
550 yards will decide a winner to get us going in Race 1 at Remington Park. A total of $12,400 will be offered in the purse for this event. Eight horses are scheduled to head to the gate for Race 1. Major McKey and Cat Daddie are going to be your two longshots here. If Cat Daddie is +1500 at post time, then that isn’t the worst value you could get. However, Major McKey would need to offer a lot more than +1200 for me to consider betting on him. He has failed to show in his last three outings and 11 of 12 races. Since winning on July 5, 2019 at Prairie Meadows, Major McKey has been a trainwreck.
Snapincat might be a better option for you at +800. He has raced in only five races and didn’t run that well in his first three races, but has picked up momentum in his previous two outings. He placed 2nd on October 18, 2019 and won his most recent race, which was just the other week on March 27.
He completed 400 yards in 20.421 seconds to top Tf Hellraising Cat who clocked in at 20.482 seconds. There doesn’t appear to be much value on some of the other ponies here. A lot of erratic and inconsistent performances across the board. However, the No. 1 horse, Tate Or Chip, will be seeing a weaker field than he’s raced against in the past. That should help on Friday.
Tate Or Chip has a win back on July 7, 2018 so it’s been a minute. He flew in that race for a time of 17.262 seconds at 330 yards. However, Tate Or Chip has been winless in eight races since then. He has a win in 11 career races, though has been coming close in recent outings, finishing 2nd in two out of his last four events.
He is taking a step down in class to compete in this race, which should help him considerably. The biggest threat for Tate Or Chip might be Prowlskeepingsecrets, but he has failed to show in 11 of his previous 12 events. Apex Eagle doesn’t have much of a resume either, as he hasn’t shown in 4 out of his last 5. Tate Or Chip may not be the fastest quarter horse in the backstretch at Remington Park, but he should be able to exploit a weak field in Race 1.
Post Time: 9:35 CST
Towards the end of the night, Race 9 will be the third-last race of the day. A $19,500 purse is offered for this event. Nine horses are eligible to race, with post time scheduled for shortly after 9:30 CST. Six out of the nine ponies in this contest have pretty large odds according to the morning lines at BetOnline.
They are all +800 or greater, with five horses above +1000. Rp Livewire Papasbaby, Memories of Lil Hero, and Admiral Tom are tied at +1500 for the biggest odds in Race 9. Livewire Papasbaby has some wins to his name, with 3 wins in 13 races. However, he didn’t look so good in his previous three races, with finishes of 4th, 3rd, and 8th.
I think if you want to back a dark horse in this race, you likely have to look in the direction of Memories of Lil Hero. He has won 6 of 13 races in his career and has shown in all 13 races. Memories of Lil Hero hasn’t finished worse than 3rd in his career thus far. He’s accumulated impressive earnings of $178,372. If he wasn’t competing against a talented field, he would likely be the favorite here.
However, he will have to deal with some fast horses that are likely going to give him issues. Dtl Chasin Tale, Dtl Samureye, and Painted Turnpike are going to be tough ponies to overcome. Chasin Tale is a winner in half of his races, with wins in 6 of 12 races. He’s failed to show in only one race. Dtl Samureye has an insane win rate of 13 wins in 20 races for a percentage of 65%. He was on a seven-race winning streak from July 7, 2018 to June 1, 2019 before losing. Like all winners do, though, he was able to get right back on track with a win in the next two outings.
That’s nothing compared to the insane win rate of Painted Turnpike, though. This money machine has won 26 out of 30 races for an incredible win percentage of 86%. He was on an unheard of 14-race win streak before finally losing on April 12, 2019. That was enough to send Painted Turnpike to the sideline for a break. The 7-year-old should be able to pop right back into action and take care of this field.
