Remington Park in Oklahoma is our next stop on Wednesday. If you’re looking for more horse racing picks, we have Thistledown covered for the afternoon hours. Remington Park is an evening card beginning at 7:07 p.m. CST. There are nine races on the agenda in Oklahoma with a total of $153,222 in prize money available. Remington Park has to compete with Mountaineer Park for off-track wagering attention.
I do believe that Remington Park is allowing fans at the facility if they wear a facemask. That is good news for horsemen, though out of state jockeys are still prevented from racing at Remington Park, as far as I know. I’m sure the Oklahoman jockeys aren’t complaining too much. That provides an opportunity for more of the hometown riders that maybe might not have been present.
If you were looking forward to a rematch between Authentic and Tiz the Law in the Preakness Stakes, you’ll be disappointed to hear that Barclay Tagg is holding him out. If Tagg doesn’t believe that Tiz the Law is in shape to compete in that race, then it’s for the better. We’ll likely see him at the Breeders’ Cup Classic in November.
Just because he’s not running in the Preakness, doesn’t mean Tiz the Law is done competing for big money. Hopefully we can turn the Remington Park card into big money today. Head below for our free Remington Park picks for September 23, 2020.

We’ll open out of the gate at Remington Park with Race 1 in Oklahoma. This seven-horse field is expected to run 7 furlongs on the dirt for a $11,475 purse. Smok’n Policy and Eurobadguy are the most likely suspects of going to the winner’s circle.
Smok’n Policy is 5 for 40 in his career and finished in the top-3 in 4 of his previous 5 outings. He won on May 11 at Will Rogers over Mr Midtown for a $8,750 purse by a nose.
Smok’n Policy finished 3rd on June 15 in another $8,750 event and then followed up for 4th most recently on June 29 in a $6,600 race. Since going on a brief hiatus, Smok’n Policy has been looking much better in workouts.
He completed 4 furlongs in 48.38, 49.98, and 48.44 seconds in two workouts in August and one in September. That’s certainly more encouraging than we were seeing from him before. It really depends on how much of that will translate over to race day on Wednesday. Eurobadguy should be the one to beat, especially if Smok’n Policy hasn’t improved since the layoff.
He is 5 for 18 in his career and coming off a strong performance on September 3. Eurobadguy was a 1 ¼ length winner for a $11,475 purse in that outing. This was after he faltered in a $38,250 race on August 21 to finish 8th. He’s been accustomed to competing for $20,000 + purses throughout his career. If Eurobadguy is interested in running on Wednesday, this should be easy pickings.

A modest purse of $9,680 is on the table in Race 4 at Remington Park. This event will cover a mile on the dirt. Texas Music Box and Lightning Bug should show nice promise in the race. Texas Music Box has been showing consistently recently, with four straight performances in the top-3. She won on May 24 by 3 ¼ lengths for a $14,500 purse.
Since then, Texas Music Box has finished 3rd in three straight. In her most recent outing, Texas Music Box was 3rd in a $41,300 event on August 11. Prior to that effort, he showed 3rd in the same class. She was an underdog in both races and ran better than expected.
Way down in class, this should be a winnable race for Texas Music Box on Wednesday. She is coming off two 4-furlong workouts with times of 49.72 and 51.02 seconds. Overall, Texas Music Box is 2 for 11 in her career. This should be a beatable event. The only horse I see keeping up with Texas Music Box has to be Lightning Bug.
Lightning Bug is 2 for 7 in her career with the most recent victory on June 27 at Lone Star. That was a 5 ½ length win in a $18,500 event as the favorite. Since then, Lightning Bug has finished 4th and 7th. Disappointing for Lightning Bug, especially considering this is a $150,000 horse, purchased last year at auction.
She is down significantly in class for today and it should reflect in the result. Her last workout was in good form with a time of 48.72 seconds on September 15. I’m going to back Lightning Bug to edge out Texas Music Box at the wire.

Distance:5 ½ Furlongs
Race 6 is a $9,000 event on the dirt for a $9,000 purse. Getaloadofthis and Little Avenger should be tough horses to beat in this race. Little Avenger is looking good recently with three straight races in the top-3. He was looking for a hat-trick on August 22, but came up just short to place 2nd in a $9,000 race.
Little Avenger finished 2 lengths behind Blending Lute. This was after Little Avenger won by ¾ lengths in a $16,520 and 5 lengths in a $15,930 event on August 4. Overall, Little Avenger has been fine with 4 wins in 12 events.
Getaloadofthis is fresh off a win on August 4 in a $20,060 event. That was a nice effort for a 1 length winner over Poppy Two Six. Prior to that win, Getaloadofthis finished 3rd in back-to-back $17,000 races.
This should be a close race between Little Avenger and Getaloadofthis. Both are in nice form right now and should be close in the stretch. I’m giving the edge to Getaloadofthis. I don’t think he should be a 7/2 underdog here based on recent form. The Robertino Diodoro trainee should run well here on good value.
