We’re on the west coast Friday at Santa Anita Park in Arcadia, California. It should be a good day of racing at Santa Anita Park, and we have you covered elsewhere, too. Fair Grounds Race Course in New Orleans is active, and we have three picks that will hopefully turn out to be profitable. We hope for the same Santa Anita on Friday as well. As far as stakes racing is concerned, there aren’t any at Santa Anita today. The running of the $200,000 Buena Vista Stakes (Gr. 2) is the highlight of the weekend at Santa Anita Park. That is the only Grade 2 race in the US on Saturday.
Santa Anita Park has nine races on the agenda Friday with a total of $383,000 in prize money available. If you are looking for Fair Grounds, you can locate the picks at our Fair Grounds page for the Friday card. Head below for our free Santa Anita Park picks for February 19, 2021.

We will get going at Santa Anita Park in Race 1, a mile event on the turf for a $61,000 purse. There are eight runners expected to run, with Man Friday and Du Jour likely going to be close in the stretch. Man Friday is coming off a strong performance on January 9, placing 2nd behind Earls Rock by 4 ¼ lengths in a $61,000 event.
That puts Man Friday in good standing heading into Friday. It was a nice response for man Friday after going 4th, 6th, 7th, 6th to open his career. Man Friday looked really nice in a workout on February 12, as he was clocked at 46.80 seconds at 4 furlongs. This is a $325,000 horse that is certainly open to improvement. He can’t be ignored in this race.
Bob Baffert’s Du Jour has looked good so far, but still searching for the winner’s circle. He placed 2nd behind Cathkin Peak by ¾ lengths in a $59,000 assignment. In his next and most recent showing, Du Jour showed 3rd in a $61,000 event. Du Jour was behind by 4 lengths in that race. He is going to have to fight for a win here, but believe it’s only a matter of time before Du Jour breaks through. I am riding with Du Jour to get the win.

Distance:6 ½ Furlongs
6 ½ furlongs for a $42,000 event in this event at Santa Anita Park on Friday. We could get a duel in this one between Sadie Bluegrass and Clockstrikestwelve. Both of these runners are in fine form, and it’s hard to see them struggling to get close in this race.
Clockstrikestwelve is on a heater with four straight wins. That can be traced back to when Clockstrikestwelve transferred to Golden Gate Fields. He finished 5th, 6th, 8th, 6th, 5th, 9th, 5th before getting on track at Golde Gate.
In his most recent win, Clockstrikestwelve beat Gettin Sideways by 1 ½ lengths in a $32,000 event. Clockstrikestwelve is back at Santa Anita Park on Friday, a place where she hasn’t had a lot of success. I certainly expect her to be better than the last time we saw her at Santa Anita, though. Sadie Bluegrass has been a force throughout her career. She is 7 for 11 and a win in 6 of her previous 8 attempts.
Sadie Bluegrass defeated Novella by 1 ¼ lengths in a $32,000 event. Her winning streak was snapped on January 10, but she got right back on the winning trail. I will side with Sadie Bluegrass who should attract a better price than Clockstrikestwelve by post time.

In our final stop at Santa Anita Park, we handicap Race 7, a mile event for a $36,000 purse. Nine horses are expected to run, with Midnight Mystery and I’m Leaving You catching my attention. Midnight Mystery is a one-time winner in his seven-race career.
It was his most recent performance, as Midnight Mystery hit paydirt over McWherter by 1 ½ lengths in a $35,000 event. That was a bold effort from Midnight Mystery, and in that form, he is going to have to be considered to win this race. The value certainly looks right on the No. 2 horse.
I’m Leaving You can’t be ignored from the outside. He’s likely going to sneak up in this race and try to steal a win away from the rest of the field. I’m Leaving You is a one-time winner as well, but has participated in some tougher events, including the $125,000 La Jolla Handicap (Gr. 3) on August 9.
It wasn’t the best performance for I’m Leaving You, as he finished 6th, but it’s the toughest race that any horse has entered in this field. That said, I’m Leaving You has gone 5th, 4th, 7th, 2nd in easier outings since then. In his most recent showing, I’m Leaving You came just short by a length behind C Falls. I’m Leaving You was the betting favorite, so it wasn’t an ideal finish. I will take a shot with an underdog in Midnight Mystery.
