There are three more race cards on Tuesday at Delta Downs, Turf Paradise, and Parx. It was a big day at Delta Downs on Monday, with three horses and three winners, including a 6/1 morning-line winner on Laurieann in Race 6. Laurieann cashed along with Standing Perfect in the Louisiana Legacy Stakes and Sarah’s Vision in Race 3. Parx was forgettable, but Delta Downs made up for it with a sweep in Louisiana.
Parx and Delta Downs are both back on Tuesday, and we’re back looking for more winners as well. Turf Paradise has some more racing in the desert today, too. It’s a quiet stakes day, with a couple of $75,000 stakes events at Delta Downs. It’s the calm before the storm, as we’re going to have unlimited stakes events on Saturday. Six tracks in the US are scheduled to have stakes races this upcoming weekend.
As far as Tuesday is concerned, we will open the day at Turf Paradise in Phoenix for three selections. Turf Paradise has eight races with a total of $68,100 in prize money available. It’s a modest day for Turf Paradise, but hopefully a big day for us. Head below for our free Turf Paradise picks for January 12, 2021.

Race 3 is our first look at Turf Paradise on Tuesday. This is a 6-furlong race for a $10,000 prize. Six horses are scheduled to run, with I’m a Dancin Who and Perfectly Seasoned are going to be there at the wire. Perfectly Seasoned is 5 for 38 in her career, having won two of her previous five races. She is coming off a win after going 4th, 6th, 4th.
Perfectly Seasoned beat Invodkawetrust by 5 ½ lengths in a $9,000 event. That was a good effort by Perfectly Seasoned and worthy of a trip to the winner’s circle as an underdog. After the form she was in leading up to that outing, the win wasn’t expected for Perfectly Seasoned. I don’t have full confidence in Perfectly Seasoned able to duplicate it on Tuesday.
I’m a Dancin Who is 10 for 35 in her career and fresh off a hat-trick with wins from September 16 to December 2. In his first win, I’m a Dancing Who beat Princess Jada by 6 ¼ lengths in September, and then followed up to win again on October 21 over Donna Who by 1 ½ lengths in a $9,000 race. In her most recent, she won again to make it three in a row by a neck over Frances Anna. I will throw my support towards I’m a Dancin Who over Perfectly Seasoned in this one.

Race 4 is a mile long race on the dirt for a $11,000 purse. African Fighter and Blue Azul should be close in the stretch. African Fighter is 9 for 56 in his career and has had success, but some bad spots recently. He’s gone 1st, 6th, 1st, 8th in his previous four outings. He was a winner in Albuquerque on September 20 two races ago in a $39,550 event.
African Fighter defeated Kristo by 2 ½ lengths as an underdog in that race. However, in his next and most recent outing, African Fighter was invisible on the track, as he finished 8th in a $11,000 event. So, he wins a $39,550 race, then gets smashed at Turf Paradise.
Albuquerque doesn’t have the best of horses in that backstretch, so that can provide a hint why African Fighter struggled so much down in class. In any case, he is capable of much more than we saw in that race.
Blue Azul is 7 for 21 in his career and recently found the winner’s circle on December 3. He has gone 1st, 9th, 6th, 6th, 1st in his previous five trips. Blue Azul beat Divine Favor by 2 lengths on December 2 for a $6,500 purse.
Up in class on Tuesday, Blue Azul should still be able to compete well at this level. He is coming off a mightily impressive workout on December 28 at 5 furlongs. Blue Azul completed 5 furlongs in 1:00.20 for a run that puts him in nice form. Expect Blue Azul to hang in this one with a chance to win in the stretch.

Our final selection at Turf Paradise is Race 5 in the desert on Tuesday afternoon. This one is scheduled for a mile on the dirt. Subtle Ride and Midnight Garden are likely going to be up there in the stretch with a chance to strike. Subtle Ride is looking for a hat-trick on Tuesday following wins on October 26 and November 4. She beat Esteemed by a nose for a $5,000 purse, and then came through with another win to advance to 2 for 10 in her career. She beat Lady Jade by a half length in the $5,500 race for her second in a row.
Midnight Garden is 2 for 4 with results of 1st, 2nd, 1st, 5th in her career. She opened her career with a win on March 15 over Don’t Stop Lookin for a $20,000 purse. That was a nice start, and Midnight Garden continued to run well. She got back into the winner’s circle on August 14 over Info’s Treasure in a $19,000 event. Impressive start to her career, though she was knocked down a peg after finishing 5th on August 30. She has been looking hot in morning workouts, most recently completing 5 furlongs in 1:00.20. I will ride with Midnight Garden from the outside.
