Back to the racetrack on Wednesday following a profitable day on Tuesday at Delta Downs and Parx. There were only four cards on Tuesday at BetOnline, but we more than double that today for Wednesday. BetOnline has seven racecourses racing on Wednesday, including Gulfstream Park, the home of the $3,000,000 Pegasus World Cup Invitational.
The Pegasus is scheduled for this weekend in Hallandale Beach at Gulfstream Park. Along with the $3,000,000 race, there is a $1,000,000 Grade 1 event on the turf. The $3,000,000 event will take place on the main track on the dirt. TheSportsGeek will have you covered at Gulfstream Park on Saturday, but there isn’t much interest from me for Gulfstream on Wednesday. We will look elsewhere for winners.
We will get going at Turf Paradise on Wednesday as we look for another profitable day at the racetrack, this time in the desert in Arizona. Turf Paradise is offering nine races for a total of $97,800 in prize money. Head below for our free Turf Paradise picks for January 20, 2021.
Post Time: 12:30 p.m. MST
In the first race of the day at Turf Paradise, we have six runners participating on the dirt for a $12,000 purse. It will take 6 furlongs to complete this circuit. J J’s Crown and Warriors Hero are likely suitors to land in the winner’s circle in Race 1. J J’s Crown showed tremendous improvement recently.
After finishing 9th as a first-time runner in his debut on October 14, J J’s Crown beat Superduty Justice by a neck as a big underdog in a $16,300 event. That was unexpected, but certainly welcome for J J’s Crown who looked sharp in that race. He didn’t look strong in a 5-furlong workout leading up to that event with a time of 1:03.00 at 5 furlongs, so it was not an expected performance.
Warriors Hero has finished in the top-3 in 4 of 5 races in his career. He showed 3rd in back-to-back outings on October 25 and November 12 leading into today. In his win, Warriors Hero struck as a rookie on July 25 by a half length in a $13,000 assignment. He showed 3rd in his most recent, a tougher $19,000 event on November 12. That would be enough in this outing.
Post Time: 12:57 p.m. MST
Race 2 is a mile event for a $8,000 purse in the desert. A race between Street Bella and Lookin’ Sweet is expected to develop in the stretch. Street Bella is winless in 16 races in her career, but could finally strike today with a productive run.
She is coming off a solid performance on September 12 to place 2nd behind Appeartotrust by 1 length for a $10,900 purse. However, Street Bella was unable to follow up with a similar performance, and settled for 5th in her most recent showing on January 13 in a $9,500 assignment. Lookin’ Sweet should give Street Bella a strong challenge on the dirt in this one.
Lookin’ Sweet is winless in three races, but came on nicely in her most recent performance. She has finished 4th, 10th, 2nd, with a nice showing for place money in her latest outing on November 6. Lookin’ Sweet placed 2nd behind Charlie’s A.T.M. by 2 lengths in a $10,000 assignment. This was after Lookin’ Sweet was nowhere to be found in a $11,000 event for 10th. Down in class on Wednesday, look for Lookin’ Sweet to do one spot better and get into the winner’s circle.

Distance:5 ½ Furlongs
Our final selection at Turf Paradise is on the dirt for a $22,000 purse. This looks like it should be a race between Shanghai Keely and Cashcheckorcharge in the stretch. Both horses are in nice form at the moment and there are no indications they’ll fall off today. Shanghai Keely has had nice success, having won 4 of 12 races in her career, and top-3 in four straight races.
She won back-to-back stakes races in the $50,000 First Lady Handicap by a half length on June 28, and then a win in the $55,000 Albuquerque Distaff Handicap by 5 ¾ lengths in an easy win. The hat-trick bid came up short, with Shanghai Keely finishing 3rd in the $70,000 Charles Taylor Stakes most recently on August 29.
Cashcheckorcharge is 5 for 8 and has had a lot of success as well. She has a win in 5 of her last 7 entries, but came up just short in her last effort on January 5. Cashcheckorcharge placed 2nd behind Harking by 1 length in a $29,250 race. Despite the loss, Cashcheckorcharge has the talent to win this race. It should be close against Shanghai Keely, but I like Cashcheckorcharge to pull it off.
