Turfway Park Selections for March 10, 2021 – Horse Racing Picks

There are several racecourses open for handicapping on Wednesday throughout the US. You can find racing in the afternoon and evening on Wednesday. We’re going to tackle the afternoon card at Tampa Bay Downs, and then head to Turfway Park in Kentucky to close out the day. There are nine racecourses on the docket Wednesday at BetOnline.

There is no stakes racing on the agenda, nor is there anything noteworthy tomorrow. There are two small $35,000 stakes races at Turf Paradise that aren’t worth mentioning, but that’s about all. Turf Paradise will have four more stakes events on Friday before the action heats up on Saturday. The biggest race on Saturday is the $1,000,000 Rebel Stakes (Gr. 2) at Oaklawn Park.

Turfway Park has eight races on the card worth a total of $145,000 in prize money. Check out our Tampa Bay Downs page if you are looking for more horse racing picks today. Head below for our free Turfway Park picks for March 10, 2021.

Distance:1 Mile
Purse:$14,000

Race 1 is a mile race on the synthetic track for a $14,000 purse. We could have a tight duel between Our Little Jewel and Joy of Treasure unfold in the stretch run. Our Little Jewel is 2 for 14 in her career. She is receiving a class drop on Wednesday to a $14,000 event after finishing 6th on February 5 in a $31,000 event.

In her most recent win on October 31, Our Little Jewel beat Twirling Faith by 1 ¼ lengths in a $60,300 race at Woodbine, so she is capable of running for bigger money up in class. However, Our Little Jewel has been well out of class recently, and a class drop to $14,000 seems about right. Our Little Jewel should compete in this class and have a shot at notching the top prize in Race 1.

Joy of Treasure is 2 for 16 in her career, with the most recent win eight races ago in 2019. I liked what we saw from Joy of Treasure on January 15 in her most recent showing, though. Joy of Treasure placed 2nd behind straitouttapopcorn by 2 ¾ lengths in a $35,000 assignment. That was a nice effort, and dropping classes as well. Another effort like that will be enough to edge out Our Little Jewel.

Post Time: 6:46 p.m. EST
Distance:6 Furlongs
Purse:$13,000

In our second race at Turfway Park, we will dissect a $13,000 race across 6 furlongs. Ready N Waiting and Shesalittle Edgy are likely going to run well in this event. Ready N Waiting is winless in five attempts, but has finished 3rd, 3rd, 2nd in her previous three performances. In her last performance, Ready N Waiting placed 2nd behind Signify by 8 lengths in a $13,000 event. Placing 2nd, yeah, but 8 lengths away from a win was way off.

She is going to need a better performance on Wednesday afternoon if she wants to do one better. Shesalittle Edgy is going to be waiting to jump on any weakness from Ready N Waiting. Shesalittle Edgy is winless in seven races, finishing 2nd, 4th, 4th in her last three races. Three races ago, Shesalittle Edge placed 2nd behind Orencia by 6 lengths for a $29,500 purse.

That was a nice effort, but she dropped off to 4th in back-to-back outings on December 18 and January 29. In her most recent showing, Shesalittle Edgy ran the rail but didn’t get the desired result despite moving up some. The $95,000 Shesalittle Edgy looked good in a recent workout on February 26, completing 4 furlongs in 49.60 seconds. I’m riding with Shesalittle Edgy.

Our Bet
(2) SHESALITTLE EDGY

+200 (2/1)
(2) Blue Steel
+800 (8/1)
(3) Piper Hill
+1500 (15/1)
(4) Big Lemon
+2000 (20/1)
(5) Till Then
+450 (9/2)
(6) Gladtobehere
+350 (7/2)
(7) Seventy Seventycat
+1000 (10/1)
(8) Fast Fire
+1000 (10/1)
(9) Tres Equis
+1000 (10/1)
(10) Pole Setter
+1500 (15/1)

Post Time: 8:16 p.m. EST
Distance:1 Mile
Purse:$14,000

Race 5 goes for a mile for a $14,000 purse on Wednesday. Ten horses are scheduled to participate in this event. I advise looking at Direct Approach and Till Then to win on Wednesday. Till Then is 3 for 7 in her career, and nearly recorded three straight wins recently. She beat Can’tbetemall by 3 ¼ lengths in a $11,000 event.

Till Then followed up on January 30 to beat Speed Gracer by 1 ½ lengths in a $10,000 event. In her attempt for a hat-trick, Till Then finished 4th in a $16,500 event under tougher conditions. It wasn’t the worst run in the world for Till Then in a race of that class. Till Then will cut down in class to a $14,000 race on Wednesday. This should be more mangable for her, and she’s getting a pretty nice price on the morning-line.

Direct Approach is going to threaten from the No. 1 post position. He is on a hat-trick and looking for four straight wins on Wednesday. Direct Approach is coming off a 1 ¼ length win over Maligator in a $16,500 event. That was an impressive run for Direct Approach, which was preceded by a 2 ¾ length win for a $15,000 purse. This is the easiest out of the three events, with a $14,000 purse on the line. Direct Approach should be able to handle this field.
