Will Rogers Downs Selections for April 22, 2020 – Horse Racing Picks

Will Rogers Downs will provide another opportunity to find some winning horses on Wednesday. We split at Will Rogers Downs yesterday to take a profit. Kansas City Zip came through for us in Race 9 for a win at +200. Kiana’s Love did not get it done in Race 1, but with a winning selection at +200 that’s all you need for a winning day.

Fonner Park was a winner as well, with split in Nebraska. Magnanimus Man was a successful selection at +250 in Race 7, while Wacca Wacca Wacca couldn’t beat out the favorite Franki D Oro in Race 6 for us. It would have been nice to go 3-1 or 4-0 on the day, but we’ll take the profit and move on.

Horse racing continues to be the only game in town for sports bettors. It’s a good opportunity to be introduced to betting the ponies with nothing else available in the US. Even prior to the sports shutdown, horse racing has always been an entertaining option. It’s also an opportunity to pad the bankroll before sports begin again, which could be a while.

The PGA Tour will likely be the first back in the US. Social distancing can be worked out with regards to golf, but the others face some difficulties. The next two weeks will give us a better idea of what’s to come. We do know that the horses will be running at several tracks, though. Head below for our free Will Rogers Downs selections for April 22, 2020. Ten races are featured on the Wednesday card in Claremore.

(4) Miss Perfecta
+350 (7/2)
(5) Reachreachreach

Post Time: 2:15 CST
Distance: 1 Mile

A purse of $12,100 will be on offer in Race 3 at Will Rogers Downs on Wednesday. 4 to 8-year-old females will be represented in Race 3. Wirewirewire, no relation to Reachreachreach, will be looking for the upset today. She has 4 wins in 26 races, as she’s been looking for her 5th for awhile now. Wirewirewire was a winner on June 1, 2019 and has been unsuccessful in nine straight runs. She did show in four of those races, so it hasn’t been all that bad. Despite the juicy odds available on Wirewirewire, it’s unlikely that she will be much of a factor in Race 3.

Seynatawnee is likely going to be your best bet for an upset in Race 3. She has been consistently producing recently, which includes some wins. Seynatawness has shown in eight out of her last nine races. That’s three wins as well, with a victory in her most recent outing. She knocked off Soaring Now by a neck after jumping up from the ¾ pole to 1st on April 1. Impressive run for Seynatawnee since last summer, but she’s going up in class and faces tough competition today. It’s not going to be so easy on her in this one. However, the price is right and she might be worth a sprinkle.

Mulberry and Miss Perfecta are both scorching hot going into Wednesday. Both have dominated the competition recently, with Miss Perfecta doing it against slightly better opponents. In any event, Mulberry is on a four-match winning streak and has wins in seven of his last eight races. The one outing he didn’t win, Mulberry placed 2nd on September 24, 2019. Way back on February 17, 2019 is the last time Mulberry didn’t place in the top-2. It’s an impressive streak for Mulberry, but she will be in tougher company on Wednesday. Her team believes that she can run against better competition, so let’s see how it goes.

Miss Perfecta enters Wednesday with wins in four straight outings which all came at Turfway Park. She won on March 10 by 2 ½ lengths over Gazing. She has wins in 6 out of 20 career races. Note that Miss Perfecta has faced stiffer competition than Mulberry has, so this event might not be as intimidating for her. Both ponies will be tested by Reachreachreach.

She is trained by Robertino Diodoro, which carries some weight. Diodoro has been one of the most successful trainers in the US in the last year. Reachreachreach has won 4 of 17 career races. She is coming off 3rd on March 31 after winning on March 16. She’s gone 1st, 8th, 1st, and 3rd in her previous four races, so a bit all over. Reachreachreach is expected to be the favorite at post time, though I feel there’s better value to be had. Miss Perfecta, Mulberry, and Reachreachreach all stand solid chances of winning here. In that case, I will back the better value at +350. Miss Perfecta stands a better opportunity to win here than the odds suggest.

Race 6

(1) Alexandros
+400 (4/1)
(2) Catale Storm
+2000 (20/1)
(3) Euramaster
+1500 (15/1)
(4) Get My Mo
+600 (6/1)
(5) Just Blaze
+800 (8/1)
(6) Kats Second Silver
+300 (3/1)
(7) Trapalanda
+250 (5/2)
(8) Hold for More
+1200 (12/1)
(9) Chatterman
+1000 (10/1)

Post Time: 3:45 CST
Distance:6 Furlongs

Nine horses are signed up to sprint out of the gate in the sixth event of the day at Will Rogers Downs. Catale Storm is looking to spring a huge upset from the No. 2 spot. Typically you’re not going to get odds like that from the No. 2 horse, though Catale Storm gets a favorable starting position for 6 furlongs. That is the only thing going in her favor, though. Catale Storm has a win in 3 of 14 races, which sounds solid. However, she’s failed to show in four straight races recently. Her last win was on May 20, 2019 by a half length over Cash Kitten.

Hold for More has been solid in 32 races with 11 wins, but has not tasted victory or success up front of late. She heads into Wednesday without a win since 2017. Hold for More has been winless in 12 straight races. Right next to her, Chatterman is likely the best upset pick for Race 6. He’s been on a winning trail, with wins in five of his previous eight events. Chatterman was not successful against tough competition in her last outing, though. She finished 7th on April 1 at Will Rogers Downs after a lot of success at Los Alamitos.

The No. 6 and No. 7 horses, Kats Second Silver and Trapalanda, are going to be the two to look out for when the gate opens for Race 6 on Wednesday. They are expected to duel for the win in this one. Kats Second Silver has shown in four straight races, including two wins on March 18 and February 5.

She recently made her debut at Will Rogers Downs, finishing 3rd at 5 ½ furlongs behind My Wise Cat and Shred the Rules. Expect her to push Trapalanda on Wednesday afternoon in Oklahoma. Trapalanda will likely be up for the challenge, though. The Californian bred Trapalanda is a winner in 9 of 23 career races for an efficient win percentage of 39%.

Trapalanda is coming off two impressive efforts on March 10 and April 8, having beaten the field in both outings. She got the win by 4 ¾ lengths over My Wise Cat and Kats Second Silver in 3rd in March. The next effort by Trapalanda was another strong showing with a win over Bandwidth by 4 ¾ lengths, wire-to-wire. Trapalanda has won four out of her last six races and placed in five. She likely has a trip to the winner’s circle on her agenda Wednesday.
