Will Rogers Downs Selections for March 30, 2021 – Horse Racing Picks

There are only six races left on the Road to the Kentucky Derby. Only six prep events for a chance to record enough points to get into the Kentucky Derby. Four of those are 170-point races, with three taking place this coming weekend on April 3. The one I’m looking forward to the most has to be the Blue Grass Stakes at Keeneland.

We get a glimpse of Essential Quality, who I have a vested interest in for the Kentucky Derby. I would suggest taking a look at our early Kentucky Derby preview to get a glimpse into how the race might unfold at Churchill Downs in May. It’s going to be here before you know it, as we’re only a month away from the most coveted race of the year.

BetOnline has four thoroughbred and a quarter horse card available for wagering on Tuesday. You can also find a handful of harness racing tracks operating. We have our Delta Downs picks locked in with three win bets in Louisiana. We’ll stay in the south in Oklahoma, where Will Rogers is hosting a nine-race card with $119,130 in prize money available. Head below for our free Will Rogers Downs picks for March 30, 2021.

Race 3

(1) Swift Justice
+1200 (12/1)
(2) Gospel Gina
+180 (9/5)
(3) J Love
+800 (8/1)
(4) River Charmer
+400 (4/1)
(5) Keeping Secrets
+100 (1/1)

Post Time: 1:56 p.m. CST
Distance:1 Mile

In the third race of the afternoon at Will Rogers, five horses are scheduled to compete for a $19,8000 purse covering a mile. Gospel Gina and Keeping Secrets could get into a fight in this one. Gospel Gina is winless in five attempts, but should find this assignment easier.

She has finished 11th, 5th, 2nd, 10th, 8th in her career. In her best effort, Gospel Gina placed 2nd on December 20. She was rejected at the wire by 3 ½ lengths for a $36,975 prize. That was a great try from Gospel Gina, though how she followed that up was not so impressive.

Gospel Gina has finished 10th and 8th in her previous two performances. 10th in a $36,000 event and then 8th for a $38,000 purse. Those two performances sent Gospel Gina down in class to a $19,800 event on Tuesday. With the class drop, it’s hard not to give Gospel Gina some consideration to win here. Keeping Secrets is winless in nine races, but was in nice form in two performances on February 25 and March 17.

She placed 2nd behind Fasted by 7 ¾ lengths in February in a $18,500 event, and then 2nd behind Dixie Wayne by 4 ¼ lengths in a $26,500 assignment. She is sure to run another strong race, but has to deal with Gospel Gina who is seeing her easiest competition in a long time. I think the better value is with Gospel Gina.

Race 4

(1) Sandman’s Legacy
+800 (8/1)
(2) Glimpse of Glory
+300 (3/1)
(3) Jolly Jumper
+800 (8/1)
(4) Soldadores Dos
+200 (2/1)
(5) Euro Suprise
+250 (5/2)
(6) Zip Tie
+1200 (12/1)
(7) You’reobadboy
+1000 (10/1)

Post Time: 2:24 p.m. CST
Distance:5 ½ Furlongs

Seven horses are expected to compete for a $23,760 purse across 5 ½ furlongs in Race 4. Euro Suprise and Soldadores Dos are in good standing for this event. Euro Suprise hasn’t been to the winner’s circle yet, but has been getting closer. In two of his previous three outings, he placed 2nd on November 1 and December 20.

In the November race, Euro Suprise placed 2nd behind Great Faces by 2 ¾ lengths in a $36,975 event. That was a nice effort at that level, but Euro Suprise was unable to improve in his next showing. He finished 4th on December 4 in the same class. Euro Suprise bounced back in his most recent performance to get back to place money, finishing 6 lengths behind Love My Ride in the same class.

Euro Suprise slides down to a $23,760 event for Tuesday. His biggest opponent in this one is likely to be Soldadores Dos. Soldadores Dos is coming off a promising debut on December 4. He showed 3rd in the December 4 race that Euro Suprise finished 4th in. Soldadores Dos had a 1 ½ length advantage on Euro Suprise at the wire. As well as beating Euro Suprise there, he is certainly open to improvement as a sophomore runner. I’d side with Soldadores Dos to find the winner’s circle in the second race of his career.

Race 8

(1) Who Are You
+300 (3/1)
(2) Calebs Tiger
+600 (6/1)
(3) Young Skywalker
+350 (7/2)
(4) Cheap Tricks
+1200 (12/1)
(5) Interest Express
+1200 (12/1)
(6) Jeano
+500 (5/1)
(7) Sweet Baker
+200 (2/1)

Post Time: 4:16 p.m. CST
Distance:5 ½ Furlongs

In the final race at Will Rogers, we have a 5 ½ furlong event for a $23,760 purse. Jeano and Sweet Baker on the outside of the gate should have a strong presence in the stretch. Jeano is winless in four events going 2nd, 8th, 4th, 2nd.

He has placed 2nd in two performances, placing 2nd in his most recent appearance on December 18. Jeano was 4 lengths behind Okie Union in a $36,975 event. That was a nice effort on a tough race like that.

It was a productive response for Jeano after finishing 4th on December 8 in a $16,575 race. That was disappointing. In any case, Jeano came back in fine form to place 2nd up in class over the $35,000 mark. Now it’s to a $23,760 assignment on Tuesday after a bit of a layoff.

His gate partner in Sweet Baker to the outside should provide a big challenge. Sweet Baker has a stakes race on his resume, placing 2nd in the $100,000 Oklahoma Classics Juvenile Stakes (Black Type) on October 16. Following that showing, Sweet Baker went 5th and 3rd at Remington Park.

Sweet Baker showed 3rd on December 2 in a $36,895 event. That was a bit too tough, but should feel much more comfortable in a $23,760 assignment on Tuesday. He is coming off an impressive workout with a time of 47.20 seconds at 4 furlongs. Sweet Baker should be ready to perform in this race.
