Woodbine Picks for August 4, 2022 – Horse Racing Betting Tips

It’s another horse racing day and there are some notable racecourses on the schedule. It’s a decent day for a Thursday afternoon, with Saratoga, Del Mar, and Woodbine all running today. The biggest race on the docket is in Saratoga Springs with the running of the $135,000 Alydar Stakes.

Big Day Saturday
If you’re looking for big-time racing, there is plenty of that on Saturday. Saratoga is hosting the $1,000,000 Whitney Stakes (Gr. 1) and Saratoga Derby Invitational (Gr. 1). The Whitney is a Breeders’ Cup Challenge Series race. Del Mar has a Breeders’ Cup qualifying event as well, with the $400,000 Clement L. Hirsch Stakes (Gr. 1).

We’re playing Woodbine and Del Mar on the Thursday card. Woodbine in Toronto has eight races worth $296,000 in prize money. Head below for our best Woodbine picks on August 4, 2022.

Race 2 is a $27,000 event covering 5 furlongs on the synthetic track. The second event should be a good one between We’ve Had Enough and She Makes Me Tizzy in the stretch run.

We’ve Had Enough is winless in 14 attempts and 4th, 3rd, 2nd in three attempts going into Thursday. She’s held some quality form, but has been denied at the wire more than once.

Three races back, We’ve Had Enough placed 2nd behind Unconscious by 3 ½ lengths for a $21,000 purse. She most recently finished 4th on April 16 for a $27,000 purse.

She Makes Me Tizzy is looking for her first win in seven career starts. The filly is coming off her best performance to date.

No. 9 placed 2nd behind Midnight Meadow by ¾ lengths for a $27,000 purse. That was a strong performance after dropping in class after finishing 5th for $35,500 on June 25. In another $27,000 assignment, She Makes Me Tizzy appears like the best.

+250 (5/2)
(3) Super Leggara
+1500 (15/1)

(8) Khozzy Valintine
+800 (8/1)
  • Post Time:6:59 p.m. EST
  • Distance:7 Furlongs
  • Purse: $49,700

Race 5 is a 7-furlong event for a $49,700 purse. Look for In My Opinion and Volata to potentially butt heads down the stretch.

Volata is 2nd, 3rd, 3rd, 1st, 2nd in five career starts. She is a consistent filly that is likely to get involved again on Thursday. Volata beat Battle Charge by a head for a $70,000 purse.

That was a strong performance and she’s been pretty consistent since then, too. In her latest start, Volata placed 2nd behind Everyday Magic by 3 lengths in a $49,700 assignment.

In My Opinion, is a one-time winner through 15 assignments. The filly has finished 6th, 4th, 7th in her previous three outings. Easier terms should help her have more success.

In her latest start, In My Opinion, was 6th in a $101,200 event on July 16. That was tough. Prior to that race, she finished 4th in a $101,200 event.

A class drop to $49,700 should serve her well on Thursday afternoon.

Race 7

(1) Muskoka Lady
+1500 (15/1)
(2) Pipestone
+200 (2/1)
(3) Ivy’s Star
+350 (7/2)
(4) Mamita’s Chica

(8) Call Me Kitty
+1500 (15/1)
  • Post Time:7:57 p.m. EST
  • Distance:1 1/16 Miles
  • Purse:$28,300

Race 7 covers 1 1/16 miles on the all-weather track for a $28,300 purse. Text Me Up and Pipestone should have strong claims in the seventh.

Text Me Up is 2 for 20 and 4th, 3rd, 5th in her previous three starts. The filly showed 3rd on June 30 in a $28,300 event. That wasn’t bad work, but she slipped to 4th on July 21.

Text Me Up lost, though she did post her best speed figure since December in that race for a $29,000 prize. She could get involved with a similar performance.

Pipestone is 2 for 18 and finished 7th, 5th, 3rd in her previous three outings. In her most recent run, Pipestone finished 7th for a $39,200 prize on July 9.

She finished 5th on June 9 in a $49,700 prize on June 9. Neither result was desirable, but she did show 3rd on May 19 for a $49,700 purse. She won a $49,700 race last August, so is capable of winning tougher races.

Down in class to $28,300, this looks like a good spot for her on Thursday.
