Atlanta Braves vs. Arizona Diamondbacks Pick – MLB May 30, 2022

The Atlanta Braves and Arizona Diamondbacks have a three-game series scheduled at Chase Field beginning Memorial Day.

The Braves are coming off two of three wins against the Miami Marlins. They notched a 6-3 win behind a strong performance from Max Fried on Sunday afternoon.

Atlanta was unable to find runs against Sandy Alcantara on Saturday in a 4-1 loss. However, responded nicely at Truist Park.

The Braves are going into Monday evening with a record of 23-25 and 8.5 games behind the New York Mets. The Mets keep on winning and stole another win last night after coming from behind to win 5-4 after going into the bottom of the 9th down 4-3.

This Atlanta team is the defending World Series champs, but they’ve been slightly on the hungover side. The good news is that the Braves didn’t reach their full potential until after the All-Star break.

It’s a long summer in the major leagues. There is a lot of time for the Braves to get into contention and go on a run. They’ve been up and down with six wins in their previous ten attempts.

The Diamondbacks enter this one on a four-game losing streak.

Arizona is in better shape than last season, but still have plenty to learn to become a competitive team. They’re going into this one with a record of 23-26. That’s a success for a team that won just 52 games.

The Diamondbacks had the worst record in National League last season. They have shown improvement, but it’s expected that the Snakes will go through up and downs periods.

The Braves are expected to send Spencer Strider to the bump, while ace Zac Gallen is up next for the Diamondbacks. Head below for our free Braves vs. Diamondbacks prediction on May 30, 2022.

Braves vs. Diamondbacks Prediction:

The Braves are hoping for the best from Spencer Strider tonight. Strider is making his major league debut as a starting pitcher. He has appeared in 13 games in his career, two last year and 11 this year, all as a reliever.

Strider has been in good form with an ERA of 2.22 and a 1.03 WHIP through 25 innings. The only problem with Strider is that he hasn’t gone very deep in games as a reliever.

He’s pitched an average of 2.1 innings a game in 2022. I do not deny that Strider could have a good game, but the Braves are likely going to the bullpen early even if he’s pitching well.

If Zac Gallen wasn’t on the mound, then I’d feel more confident in the Braves, but the Diamondbacks could be good value at even money behind Zac Gallen.

Gallen is coming off his worst performance of the season. He allowed 7 hits and 6 earned runs against the Kansas City Royals last week.

Gallen was rolling through hitters before he was roughed up versus the Royals.

He is going into tonight with an ERA of 2.22 and a 0.83 WHIP. Despite allowing 6 earned runs in 5.1 innings, his numbers are still holding strong. Before that start, Gallen had a 1.14 ERA heading into that matchup.

Atlanta Braves vs. Arizona Diamondbacks Betting Trends:

  • Record (Last 10): 6-4
  • 6-1 overall in their previous seven games as a betting favorite
  • 1-4 overall in their previous five games on a Monday
  • 2-5 overall in their seven games versus the NL West
  • 7-19 overall in their previous 26 games after a win
  • 2-5 overall in their previous seven first game of a series

  • Record (Last 10): 5-5
  • 5-1 overall in their previous six games versus the NL East
  • 5-1 overall in their previous six games versus a team with a losing record
  • 2-5 overall in their previous seven games versus a starter with a right-handed starter
  • 0-4 overall in their previous four games at home
  • OVER is 5-0 in their previous five games versus a team with a losing record

  • The Marlins trading Zac Gallen probably wasn’t the best move. He has ace qualities and allowed 1 or no runs in six of seven outings.

Gallen hadn’t allowed more than 2 earned runs in his first seven starts.

I’m confident in Gallen will bounce back to form at home in this one. He’s too good of a pitcher to get rocked in back-to-back starts. Conversely, the Diamondbacks should have a shot at the Braves bullpen for most of the game tonight. Gallen at even money is worth a look.
