Atlanta Braves vs. Colorado Rockies Pick – MLB June 4, 2022

The Atlanta Braves and Colorado Rockies will meet for the third of four games at Coors Field this weekend. Atlanta is going for three straight after a 13-6 and 3-1 win.

In a rare low-scoring final at Coors Field, the Braves won in extra innings after nothing on the board through 9 innings. Max Fried and Chad Kuhl both deserved a winning night in Denver.

Fried went 8 innings, with just 2 hits and 1 walk allowed to get the game into extras. Kuhl was in good form as well, but the Braves’ 3 runs in the top of the 10th was the difference.

The Braves made it back-to-back wins over the Rockies. They are 26-27 and have some work to do to catch the New York Mets.

The Braves are 8.5 games behind the Mets for the lead in the NL East. A game under .500 is good for second in the division. The Mets are the only team with their heads above .500.

There is plenty of time left this season for a team to make a run at the Mets.

It didn’t take until the second half of the season for the Braves to get hot and take aim at the World Series. The Braves got hot despite not being at full health to win it all.

They are entering Coors Field on a three-game winning streak, which started with a 6-0 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks to avoid getting swept on Wednesday.

The Rockies are in a tough spot in the NL West. Even if there is improvement, the Dodgers, Giants, and Padres aren’t going anywhere.

Colorado is going into Saturday night with a record of 23-29 and last in the division. They are 12 games behind for top honors in the NL West.

Spencer Strider and lefty Kyle Freeland are expected to get the start at Coors tonight. Head below for our free Braves vs. Rockies pick on June 4, 2022.

Braves vs. Rockies Prediction:

The Braves are giving Spencer Strider the second start of his career tonight at Coors Field.

He was used in two games in his first major league experience last season. Both outings were out of the bullpen for a 3.86 ERA and 1.29 WHIP through 2.1 innings.

Strider is getting a bigger workload in 2022, as he will make his 13th appearance on the mound this season. He’s coming off his major league debut as a pitcher on Monday. Strider took a loss in a 6-2 final to the Diamondbacks.

The rookie was ragged for 4 hits and 5 runs in 4.1 innings. He avoided getting dinged completely, as 2 of the runs were not earned. He’s going into tonight with an ERA of 5.62 and a 1.25 WHIP in his previous 8 innings.

Coors Field is not a simple park to figure out for the best of pitchers. It takes a different approach to have success. This should not be easy on Strider in just the second start of his career.

The Rockies rate the best in the major leagues with a team batting average of .264.

Despite a slow game last night, the Rockies are hitting .276 with 6.22 runs per 9 innings at Coors Field in 2022. They get on base often, with a .347 OBP at home.

Atlanta Braves vs. Colorado Rockies Betting Trends:

  • Record (Last 10): 6-4
  • 6-15 overall in their previous 21 games after a win
  • 9-3 overall in their previous 12 games as a betting favorite
  • OVER is 5-1 in their previous six games versus a left-handed starter
  • OVER is 7-2 in their previous nine games after scoring 2 or fewer runs
  • OVER is 5-1-1 in their previous seven third game of a series

  • Record (Last 10): 3-7
  • 3-7 overall in their previous ten games as an underdog at home
  • 6-14 overall in their previous 20 games versus the NL East
  • OVER is 10-4 in their previous 14 games at home
  • OVER is 7-3 in their previous ten games
  • OVER is 14-6 in their previous 20 third game of a series

  • After scoring no runs in 9 innings, expect the Rockies to have a much better showing at the plate tonight. The Colorado pitching staff leaves plenty to be desired, though.

The Rockies have an ERA of 5.26 and a 1.52 WHIP as a team.

Colorado’s bullpen has the worst numbers in the majors, with an ERA of 5.27 and a 1.50 WHIP. That’s not close to the next worse team, the Royals, with a 4.83 ERA.

Kyle Freeland is entering Coors Field with an ERA of 4.96 and a 1.56 WHIP. He has a 6.25 ERA and 1.67 WHIP.

Freeland is a pitcher that probably wants a trade elsewhere after spending six years pitching at Coors Field. He’s been fine on the road, with an ERA of 3.00 and a 1.38 WHIP, but it’s tough in Denver.

Freeland recorded an ERA of 5.06 and a 1.50 WHIP in his last three starts. The Braves are hitting .338 with a .403 OBP in 63 at-bats versus Freeland.

They’ve also notched 4 home runs and a whopping 17 RBIs. This doesn’t look like a good time for Freeland tonight.

It should be interesting to see how the rookie goes for the Braves as well. Expect the runs to pile up tonight after a rare slow night for the scoreboard operator at Coors Field.
