Baltimore Orioles vs. Chicago White Sox Pick – MLB June 23, 2022

The Baltimore Orioles and Chicago White Sox open a four-game series at Guaranteed Rate Field on Thursday night.

The O’s hit the road following a five-game homestand at Camden Yards. They won three games, with an upset over the Rays for two wins and a split versus the Nationals.

This is a long ten-game road trip for the Orioles. After Chicago, they fly out to the west coast for a series against the Seattle Mariners and then back closer to home versus the Washington Nationals.

The Orioles are not looking to compete in the AL East, but they’ve made good progress this season. They own a record of 31-39 going into this one at Guaranteed Rate Field.

This is the same club that went 54-108 and 52-110 in the last two full seasons. They’re not ready to engage with top contenders in the AL East, though progress is a win in 2022.

The White Sox are playing catch up with the Minnesota Twins after a slow start to the season.

The White Sox and Guardians both needed to catch up to the Twins, who were fast starters. Cleveland and Minnesota are in a deadlock in the AL Centra, while the White Sox are just four games back now.

The White Sox are winners in six of their previous nine attempts this season. They are on the heels of a successful series versus the Toronto Blue Jays with two of three wins.

Dean Kremer and Johnny Cueto are slated to get the starting calls tonight. Both have been pitching well in 2022. Head below for our free Orioles vs. White Sox pick on June 23, 2022.

Orioles vs. White Sox Prediction:

Dean Kremer is off to a solid start this season after opening his season late. He made his first appearance of this season on June 5 and was nipped by the Guardians in a 3-2 loss.

Kremer allowed 5 hits and 3 earned runs in the losing effort.

He’s on fire in his last two starts since then, with 1 earned run yielded in 11 innings of work. Kremer gave up 4 hits and 1 earned run to the Royals through 5 innings and followed up nicely in a 1-0 win versus the Rays.

The bullpen didn’t help Kremer in a 10-7 loss to the Royals, but he was rewarded with a win for his effort the last time out. Can he keep it going against the White Sox tonight?

Kremer recorded an ERA of 4.82 in four starts in 2020 in his first season. He was out of touch last year, with a 7.55 ERA and a 1.64 WHIP.

I’d like to see more work from Kremer having success before I’m ready to feel confident in him, though. The White Sox can be a tough lineup to navigate past mistake-free.

The White Sox are fourth in the majors with a team batting average of .255.

Johnny Cueto gives the White Sox a good chance of countering Kremer with a better start. Cueto is pitching well and coming off a lockdown performance versus the Astros.

Baltimore Orioles vs. Chicago White Sox Betting Trends:

  • Record (Last 10): 6-4
  • 0-8 overall in their previous eight games versus the White Sox
  • 3-7 overall in their previous ten games versus the AL Central
  • 0-5 overall in their previous five games at Chicago (W. Sox)
  • 14-41 overall in their previous 55 games on a Thursday
  • 9-19 overall in their previous 28 games on the road versus a team with a losing record

White Sox

  • Record (Last 10): 6-4
  • 4-1 overall in their previous five games after a loss
  • 4-1 overall in their previous five games versus the AL East
  • 4-1 overall in their previous five games after conceding 5 or more runs
  • 5-2 overall in their previous seven games versus a team with a losing record
  • 8-0 overall in their previous eight games versus the White Sox

  • Cueto allowed 2 hits and 2 walks against the Houston Astros five days back. In six of seven appearances this season, Cueto has given up 3 or fewer earned runs.

The Orioles are 26th in the major leagues with a team batting average of .231.

They have scored 4.15 runs per 9 innings for 23rd in the majors. On the road, the O’s have scored just 4.02 runs per 9 innings.

If you’re looking at what Kremer has done in his three starts this season the Orioles look tempting at this price. However, it’s hard to trust such a small sample size from him so far.

The White Sox likely have the advantage at home tonight. Kremer should be fine, but the bats should break through for the White Sox at home in this one.
