Baltimore Orioles vs. Seattle Mariners Pick – MLB June 28, 2022

The Baltimore Orioles and Seattle Mariners play the second of three games at T-Mobile Park tonight. Baltimore opened the series with a 9-2 win last night.

George Kirby ran into big trouble, as he was smacked for 9 hits and 7 earned runs through 4 innings. Kirby had been pitching pretty well for the Mariners, but that wasn’t a night for him.

The Orioles are a team on the upswing on the diamond. They’ve spent years rebuilding their process and almost out of this phase.

Baltimore parted ways with Manny Machado in 2018. The rebuild was already well in motion before Machado was traded, so the O’s have been at this for a while. Signing Chris Davis to a $161-million deal was the beginning of a dark period.

The Orioles enter Tuesday night at 35-40.

The O’s are creeping up on .500 as a result of five wins in their previous six outings. They looked great at Guaranteed Rate Field with three wins in four games.

With three straight wins, the Orioles had an opportunity to sweep the White Sox on Sunday. The White Sox came through in a 4-3 final, but it was still a successful weekend in Chicago.

The good play for the Orioles continued at T-Mobile Park last night. Dean Kremer will be tasked with keeping the Orioles hot tonight.

Kremer is looking to stay hot, as he’s riding a nice wave of success through four starts. Prized free-agent signing, Robbie Ray, gets the nod for the Mariners. Head below for our free Orioles vs. Mariners prediction on June 28, 2022.

Orioles vs. Mariners Prediction:

The Orioles were excited about unleashing Dean Kremer this season. They believed he took significant leaps forward in his offseason development after struggling last season.

Kremer first appeared in the majors in 2020 with four starts.

In four performances, Kremer posted an ERA of 4.82 and a 1.45 WHIP. It was something to build on, but Kremer imploded through 13 starts last season.

Kremer went back into the lab and looked much better in spring training. His arrival to the major leagues was delayed this season, but Kremer is making up for lost time since his 2022 debut in early June.

He is going into this start with an ERA of 1.71 and a 1.24 WHIP through 21 innings of work. Kremer was only just fine in his first attempt, with 5 hits and 3 earned runs allowed in a 3-2 loss to the Guardians, but untouchable since then.

Kremer has notched an ERA of 0.54 and a 1.20 WHIP following his season debut.

In his latest assignment, Kremer yielded 1 earned run in a 4-0 win over the White Sox. He’s been more than fine on the road, with a 0.84 ERA and 1.31 WHIP entering T-Mobile Park.

Baltimore Orioles vs. Seattle Mariners Betting Trends:

  • Record (Last 10): 7-3
  • 5-1 overall in their previous six games
  • 5-1 overall in their previous six games versus a team with a losing record
  • UNDER is 5-0 in their previous five games after a win
  • UNDER is 5-0-1 in their previous six games versus the AL West
  • UNDER is 7-1 in their previous eight games

  • Record (Last 10): 5-5
  • 5-0 overall in their previous five second game of a series
  • 5-2 overall in their previous seven games versus a team with a losing record
  • UNDER is 13-3 in their previous 16 games at home
  • UNDER is 8-3 in their previous 11 games versus a right-handed starter
  • UNDER is 3-1-1 in their previous five games versus a team with a losing record

  • Robbie Ray was a slow starter this season. He signed an expensive deal to sign with the Mariners, but his contract wasn’t matching up with the production.

The defending AL Cy Young winner is heating up.

Ray is figuring it out, as he’s quietly been building up a hot arm. Ray has posted an ERA of 0.90 and a 0.70 WHIP in his previous three starts going into tonight.

He’s been in good shape at home for the duration of this season. Ray owns a 2.84 ERA and 0.88 WHIP opposed to a 5.24 ERA and 1.47 WHIP on the road in 2022. He’s helped by a solid bullpen that has recorded a 3.88 ERA and 1.13 WHIP.

The O’s bullpen has been underrated all season, as they enter this one with an ERA of 3.05 and a 1.20 WHIP. There are only two better teams in the majors. Much of their success is attributed to the improvement of their bullpen.

I’m looking at a 4-3 or 4-2 final score at T-Mobile Park tonight. Kremer and Ray should battle it out for a win in Seattle.

The UNDER doesn’t look like a bad option here.
