In day three, game two for the Braves and Giants it sets up to be a more exciting affair. With Lincecum’s 1-0 Complete game shutout the offenses for both clubs were stymied. This one is set for 9:37pm ET and will again take place at AT&T Park. Tommy Hanson gets the start and will be facing another stiff test in starter Matt Cain for the Giants.

Atlanta just let the last one get away with a few calls and errors throughout. A real issue has been them taking care of the defensive fundamentals that seem to keep haunting them and in a tied 0-0 game, cost them in the end. Offensively they could only amass two hits while taking one base-on-balls versus San Fran. who geared up and won the game with only one run on five hits and four walks. The big hitters for the Braves continually left runners on and it cost them in the end.
San Francisco Giants ace Tim Lincecum had 14 strikeouts and finished the game on his own, looking just as good if not better at the end than in the beginning. Hanson has been busy over the last seven days, but earned a combined ERA of 0.71, which is very good for the Braves. Matt Cain takes the ball in this one, getting roughed up in his last outing and only lasting four innings. The match up evens out by familiarity and overall year ending statistics.
Atlanta vs San Francisco NLDS Game 2 Betting Odds:

Braves vs Giants NLDS Prediction for Game 2:
Game Total Prediction (TOP PLAY) – The last time Matt Cain pitched against the Braves was when he lost a decision to Tim Hudson 3-0. I feel completely confident in seeing these offenses barely scrape a run across. I would have bet this number even if it went as low as six. For this series the under is the play, until these teams can actually solve any of the above-average pitching as Lincecum is the only one possessing the type of stuff that should result in a shutout. Cain is a second in command to Tim, but he is no slouch. PREDICTION = UNDER 6.5.
Moneyline Prediction – I kind of went back and forth on this one and am glad the total ended up yelling out at me. Hanson is the lovable loser with a losing record but deserved more from the Atlanta Braves offense all year. Does he get it in this one? I believe that he will at least receive enough to go into game three all squared away at 1-1. Hanson is 1-0 with a 2.57 ERA in 14 innings for his career against the Giants. Whereas Cain is 2-2 with a 4.03 ERA, I bet that the Giants will flinch first without their true showstopper on the mound. My upset special, take the dog. PREDICTION = BRAVES (+136).
