Cincinnati Reds vs. Los Angeles Dodgers Pick – MLB April 15, 2022

The Cincinnati Reds came close until they were blown away in the 8th last night. After the Reds got behind in the 1st inning, 3-0, there wasn’t much action at Dodger Stadium across the next four innings.

Cincinnati thought they had a come-from-behind win in the works. The Reds tied the game up in the 7th, but that was short-lived. The Dodgers erupted in the 8th inning with 6 runs to take a 9-3 lead.

The mood in the Reds’ clubhouse changed in a hurry after the Dodgers’ bats fired up a big 8th frame at Dodger Stadium. That’s the big problem playing the Dodgers.

They are always capable of having an inning like that and blowing things wide open quickly. The Reds have to get going earlier at Dodger Stadium tonight.

Cincinnati is off to two wins in seven games entering Friday night. Since beating the Atlanta Braves on April 10, 6-3, the Reds haven’t come close in their next three outings.

The Reds were outscored by 26 runs to 11 runs. Cleveland swept them in a two-game interleague series and then the bullpen collapsed last night.

Lefty Vladimir Gutierrez is scheduled to get his second start of the season in this one at Dodger Stadium. He was fine in his rookie campaign and now more is expected.

Tony Gonsolin who has done it all on the hill for the Dodgers, is scheduled to counter at home. Head below for our free Reds vs. Dodgers prediction on April 15, 2022.

Reds vs. Dodgers Prediction:

Vladimir Gutierrez experienced his first taste of Major League Baseball last season. It wasn’t great, but something to build on in his sophomore campaign. The rookie posted an ERA of 4.74 and a 1.85 WHIP across 22 games.

Gutierrez didn’t get off to a good start in spring training. He struggled with an ERA of 8.68 and a 1.50 WHIP across 9.1 innings.

Gutierrez was tagged for 12 hits and 3 home runs for a rocky training camp. In his 2022 debut in the regular season, Gutierrez settled in against Atlanta Braves. He received no run support, though, as the Reds fell 2-1 on April 9.

Across 4.1 innings of work, Gutierrez allowed 6 hits and 2 earned runs.

He also walked 2 batters, so it wasn’t a blemish-free performance. Expect Gutierrez to be in tough tonight after the Dodgers’ offense got going late last night.

Cincinnati Reds vs. Los Angeles Dodgers Betting Trends:

  • Record (Last 10): 2-5
  • 1-5 overall in their previous six games
  • 2-9 overall in their previous 11 games versus the NL West
  • 1-5 overall in their previous six games versus a right-handed starter
  • 2-7 overall in their previous nine games as an underdog on the road
  • 2-6 overall in their previous eight games after a loss

  • Record (Last 10): 4-2
  • 51-19 overall in their previous 70 games
  • 54-17 overall in their previous 71 second game of a series
  • 40-12 overall in their previous 52 games at home
  • 7-0 overall in their previous seven games versus the NL Central
  • 44-9 overall in their previous 53 games versus a team with a winning percentage worse than 40%

Tony Gonsolin made his first start this season against the Rockies in a tough game at Coors Field. He went 3 innings with a 3.00 ERA in a 3-2 loss.

The offense didn’t come through in that one for the Dodgers. Against Gutierrez this time at home, expect Gonsolin to get some support from the offense. The Cincinnati bullpen hasn’t been in the best form, as they’re near the back of the majors with a 4.72 ERA and 1.31 WHIP. After getting raked across the coals in the 8th inning, it shouldn’t be in the best shape tonight.

I’m on the Dodgers to look good tonight in their second game at Dodger Stadium in 2022. Gutierrez likely doesn’t have enough to contain the Dodgers in this one.
