Cleveland Guardians vs. LA Dodgers Pick – MLB June 17, 2022

The Cleveland Guardians are on the west coast for a three-game interleague series at Dodger Stadium. They’re coming off a fun trip to Denver, with three straight wins over the Colorado Rockies.

The Guardians beat up on the Rockies for a 4-3, 7-5, and 4-2 win. That’s a good look for the Guardians, as they pull within two games of the Minnesota Twins. The White Sox are getting closer, too. They’re five games behind the Twins in the AL Central.

The Minnesota Twins have controlled the division up to this point, but things are likely going to get much closer soon. For most of the season, the Twins were the only team with a record above .500, so it wasn’t like they were playing amazing baseball to have the lead.

The Guardians are going into Dodger Stadium on a four-game winning streak. They’ve won seven of their previous eight attempts going into tonight.

This has been their best baseball season, and the Twins have to feel the loud footsteps. At this rate, the Guardians will be leading the AL Central next week.

That said, the Guardians have a tough assignment at Dodger Stadium this weekend.

The Dodgers are coming off back-to-back wins against the Angels. This ended a three-game losing streak for the Dodgers, who weren’t looking like themselves.

The Dodgers were two hits away from a no-hitter in their latest win. Tyler Anderson struck out Mike Trout and had to overcome his next biggest obstacle. Shohei Ohtani took advantage of a hanger over the plate and ripped a triple to break up the no-no.

Craig Kimbrel entered the game to pitch for 2 outs. The Dodgers are going to have a fresh bullpen for Friday night’s festivities in LA.

Zach Plesac and Clayton Kershaw are scheduled to open this game on the bump tonight. Head below for our free Guardians vs. Dodgers prediction on June 17, 2022.

Guardians vs. Dodgers Prediction:

Zach Plesac has to be better at Dodger Stadium tonight, or this one will be tough news for the Guardians. Plesac has an ERA of 4.70 and a 1.29 WHIP entering this start Friday night.

Plesac has posted an ERA of 6.49 and a 1.25 WHIP on the road in 27 innings of work. He’s not been good on the road and must clean it up or risk the Guardians falling behind quickly. His worst start of the season came four starts back at Houston.

Plesac was tagged for 9 hits and 7 earned runs in 4.2 innings of play.

Plesac likely doesn’t get through the Dodgers without any problems on his resume. He couldn’t do that against a bad A’s offense recently.

The Athletics notched 8 hits and 4 runs with Plesac on the mound for 6 innings last week.

The Dodgers are first in the major leagues, with 5.15 runs scored per 9 innings. They’re in the top-5 in OPS and hitting 1.28 home runs per game.

Despite not hitting their best recently, they are still the best team in the majors from the plate.

The Dodgers have recorded 5.55 runs per 9 innings at home this season. The biggest problem for the Guardians may be Clayton Kershaw.

Cleveland Guardians vs. Los Angeles Dodgers Betting Trends:

  • Record (Last 10): 8-2
  • 4-0 overall in thier previous four games on the road
  • 2-6 overall in their previous eight games as an underdog
  • 4-13 overall in their previous 17 games as an underdog on the road
  • 4-2 overall in their previous six games versus the National League
  • 5-1 overall in their previous six games after a win

  • Record (Last 10): 4-6
  • 20-6 overall in their previous 26 games versus the AL Central
  • 10-2 overall in their previous 12 games versus the American League
  • 17-3 overall in their previous 20 games versus the AL Central
  • 40-16 overall in their previous 56 games versus the American League
  • OVER is 5-0 in their previous five games versus the Guardians

  • Kershaw has been in and out of the rotation this season. He has a 2.12 ERA and 0.79 WHIP across 34 innings this season.

The big lefty made his return to the rotation last week after sitting out since May 7.

He was in good form with 3 hits and 2 earned runs allowed through 4 innings. Kershaw boasts an ERA of 1.59 and a 1.00 WHIP in his previous three starts.

The Guardians are hitting just .117 with a .126 OBP in 37 at-bats. This lineup hasn’t hit a home run or even an RBI against Kershaw.

Look for the Dodgers to be too much with Kershaw on the hill tonight. Plesac likely doesn’t get the better of Kershaw in this one. I like a 6-3 win for the Dodgers to start this interleague series.
