We had another winning night last night with the over in the Red Sox/Rays game. I also hit the in game OVER 181 in the NBA finals game, so it was a nice 2-0 night. For the most part, neither bet was ever in doubt. I am now on a 7-0 run with my totals, so I am going to stick with my guns for tonight. Tonight’s pick features the follow up to a wild one that ensued last night in Los Angeles.
Free MLB Pick:
Arizona Diamondbacks +102 at Los Angeles Dodgers -112 (Total: 6.5)
Patrick Corbin (9-0, 1.98 ERA) vs. Hyun-Jin Ryu (6-2, 2.72 ERA)
Yesterday my pick was for a game that featured a benching clearing brawl the night before, and I am looking that way once again. The Red Sox/Rays “brawl” was child’s play compared to last night’s events in Los Angeles, however. The shenanigans began after Yasiel Puig was belted in the face with a fastball from Ian Kennedy. The Dodgers returned the favor later in the game, which was aimed at Miguel Montero. The final straw came when Kennedy came back again and reamed Zack Greinke. The benches cleared for a second time with a scuffle ensuing. Oh, and if you were wondering about the score, the Dodgers came from behind to capture a 5-3 win.
Tonight this series showcases the aces of both clubs. I think the secret is out about Patrick Corbin, but if you aren’t aware, the kid is a flat out stud. He has a perfect 9-0 record to go along with a 1.98 ERA and solid .277 OBP. For his standards, Corbin has faltered of late, where he has a 3.72 ERA. However, he will have a golden opportunity for a lights out performance against one of the worst offense teams in the league. As I stated in a previous Dodgers writeup, the only player that you have to worry about is Puig. He was ejected last night, and took a ball to the face, but should be ready to go for tonight.
The Dodgers will counter with an ace of their own, Hyun-Jin Ryu. Much like Corbin, Ryu has excellent 2013 numbers with a 2.72 ERA. Ryu’s most impressive starts have come in his last three starts, bolstering a terrific 1.12 ERA. Those starts came against the Brewers, Angels, and Braves, no slouches at the plate. Ryu is also particularly excellent at home. His home splits feature a 1.50 ERA, .233 OBP, and 0.88 WHIP.
While last night was a rowdy one, I think things calm down some tonight and give way to the pitchers. Runs should be at a premium with these two on the mound, so I am making the UNDER 6.5 my official play for June 12th.
Free Pick: UNDER 6.5
