It has been a perfect week for me here with my baseball picks here at The Sports Geek. Even with what happens on the weekend, it looks like I secured myself another winning week. I’m not looking just to make a small profit, rather I’m looking to make huge gains heading into football season. If I can finish the week up strong it will be another monster week of profits.
Yesterday the Detroit Tigers came up gold for us, as we cashed the RL with relative ease. The Kansas City Royals got on the board early in the first, but were then stymied by Anibal Sanchez the rest of the way. Prince Fielder broke out of a home run slump, and smacked a 2 run blast to deep right field to get things going for the Tigers. They didn’t look back from there, securing the 4-1 victory Thursday night in front of a packed Comerica Park.
Free MLB Pick:
Los Angeles Dodgers -120 at Philadelphia Phillies +100 (Total: 7)
Zack Greinke (10-3, 3.21 ERA) vs. Cliff Lee (10-5, 3.18 ERA)
The Los Angeles Dodgers are no secret anymore. The Dodgers are legitimately the hottest team in Major League Baseball. Not only the hottest team, but they are a big favorite now to win the whole thing in October. It’s easy to see happening with the kind of rotation they have and the way their bats have been producing. I think it’s going to come down to one thing for the dodgers: can they stay healthy?
One member of their terrific pitching rotation will enter Friday’s tilt with the Philadelphia Phillies holding a 10-3 record. Zack Greinke has been a fantastic addition for the Dodgers that currently sit at 70-50. Not only has Greinke been tossing it with the best of them, but he has also been making it happen offensively with his bat. Greinke has turned it up lately, hurling his way to a 1.83 ERA in his last three starts. Shutting down the capable New York Yankees, St. Louis Cardinals, and Tampa bay Rays. Greinke does have a higher ERA of 4.36 on the road, but it is important to note that it’s that high because of a couple bad starts on the road. His last start on the road at St. Louis was great, and he has many other solid outings away from home.
While Greinke has been tough as nails to hit lately, Phillies’ starter Cliff Lee has hit a small bump in the road. He’s going through his toughest stretch of the season, as his ERA hit 5.82 in his last three starts. However, even with those shaky numbers, Lee still possesses an outstanding ERA of 3.18. This certainly does indicate that he’s much better than what that shows. Lee may need to pitch lights out for the Phillies to pull this one off, because their offense has been erratic to say the least. It’s pretty simple, if they are hitting against a scrub they are fine, if it’s against an ace then expect 1 or 2 runs out of the Phillies.
Greinke is far from a scrub, which leads me to believe this may turn into a pitching duel. I initially liked the Dodgers, but think this line is a little fishy. I think the line should be higher in favor of the Dodgers. I think after a night off and having to travel to the east coast, Cliff Lee will be able to produce a solid night of pitching. I’ll be on the UNDER 7 as I look to continue a perfect week of baseball handicapping.
