Welcome to a jam-packed 15-game Tuesday night slate! With that said, we can safely write off four games from this slate due to weather and PPD risk. Therefore we will consider 11 games for tonight’s slate. Let’s get started!
P – Luke Weaver (STL) – $7,600 vs. MIL
Weaver has been a part of these lineups twice this season and has delivered both times, including a start against these same Brewers where he tossed 6.1 innings of two-run ball with eight strikeouts. That said, the best start of his young big league career was also his most recent one where he hurled seven shutout innings with ten strikeouts against the Padres. Weaver now owns an impressive 28% strikeout rate on the season and faces a strikeout-prone Brewers lineup that has a 26.2% strikeout clip over the last month against righties as per their projected lineup.
P – Matt Moore (SF) – $8,100 vs. SD
Moore is usually more of a GPP option with his penchant for getting knocked around once in a while, but the lefty is currently enjoying his best stretch of the season as he enters tonight’s matchup against San Diego. Moore has allowed just five earned runs over his last three starts (20.1 innings) to go along with 19 strikeouts in that span. The Padres have a .658 OPS against lefties this season which is 29th in the league while their projected lineup has a 28.9% strikeout rate against lefties over the last month. This is a very favorable matchup for Moore tonight.
C – Salvador Perez (KC) – $2,900 vs. TB
The Royals are in an epic slump at the moment, having been shut out in four straight games, but with the weather issues the catcher position has become a black hole on tonight’s slate. Therefore, we will roll with the mostly consistent Perez who owns a very nice .234 ISO, .820 OPS and .343 wOBA on the season against right-handed pitching which is what he will see against the Rays’ Alex Cobb at Kauffman Stadium tonight.
1B – Joey Votto (CIN) – $5,100 vs. NYM
Speaking of consistency, there may not be a more consistent hitter in all of baseball than Votto. Votto and the Reds will take on Mets’ righty Chris Flexen who owns a 7.18 FIP to lefties and a 6.70 FIP to righties, so he can be targeted from both sides. Votto enters play tonight with a .270 ISO, 1.043 OPS and a .432 wOBA against righties this season. He and the other lefties in this Reds’ stack should also be able to take advantage of Flexen’s 54% fly ball rate to lefties this season in the very home run-friendly confines of Great American Ball Park tonight.
2B – Scooter Gennett (CIN) – $4,100 vs. NYM
Next up in the Reds’ stack is the lefty-swinging Gennett who is enjoying a breakout season for the Reds. Gennett owns a .267 ISO, .929 OPS and a .387 wOBA on the season against righties, with that OPS and wOBA being second best numbers on the team next to Votto. Consistency has also been the name of the game for Gennett with his cross-category production making him a viable DFS play almost any night when facing a right-handed pitcher.
3B – Alex Bregman (HOU) – $4,700 vs. TEX
After a fairly disappointing first half of the season Bregman that saw Bregman post a .163 ISO and a .326 wOBA, Bregman has exploded and now owns a .278 ISO and a .421 wOBA in the season’s second half. He has raked left-handed pitching this season, especially recently with a .375 ISO and a .482 wOBA against them over the last month. He is locked in against southpaws and that should continue tonight against the Rangers’ Martin Perez.
SS – Zack Cozart (CIN) – $4,200 vs. NYM
Cozart is the lone right-handed bat in this stack, but he has hit righties very well and as I mentioned earlier, Flexen can certainly be targeted from both sides of the plate. Cozart sports a very productive .225 ISO, .895 OPS and a .379 wOBA against righties this season. He is also likely to hit second in the lineup tonight so look for Cozart to be the spark for this stack tonight while offering cross-category appeal in the process.
OF – Scott Schebler (CIN) – $3,700 vs. NYM
I believe we are getting good value here with Schebler. While his average against righties is only .223, Schebler has clubbed 20 homers against righties this year and owns a .269 ISO and a .342 wOBA against them as well. He will hit at the end of this stack tonight so RBI opportunities should be plentiful while his home run upside is attractive in this matchup as well.
OF – George Springer (HOU) – $4,800 vs. TEX
Both Springer and his Astros teammates aren’t on the same tear they were earlier in the summer, but his work against lefties can’t be ignored. Springer has clobbered lefties to the tune of a .278 ISO, .994 OPS and a .416 wOBA this season. He will hit in the leadoff spot for the Astros tonight and forms a formidable mini-stack with Bregman as well.
OF – Dexter Fowler (STL) – $4,300 vs. MIL
Fowler has been hitting the ball very well lately and will enter play tonight sporting a .275 ISO and .461 wOBA over the last month against right-handed pitching. He will face right-hander Matt Garza tonight who owns a 6.05 FIP and has yielded a .362 wOBA to lefties this season. He also sports a 45% fly ball rate to lefties, a scary numbers considering how Miller Park in Milwaukee favors the left-handed home run more than any other venue in baseball.
