Giants vs Phillies Odds and Predictions NLCS Game 2

MLB decided to put Game two between San Francisco and Philadelphia just before the Sunday night kickoff in the NFL. First pitch slated for 8:00 PM ET, Sunday, October 17th at Citizens Bank Park, Philadelphia, PA. Both pitchers scuffled a bit in game one, I had anticipated this but most thought a pitchers duel would present itself. Another set of solid starters in this one, with lefty Jonathan Sanchez 3.07 ERA and 13 wins in 2010, going up against Roy Oswalt with a 2.76 ERA but a .500 record over the season.

San Francisco Giants turn to Sanchez who helped propel them into a win in the NLDS against the Braves, pitching into the eighth snuffed out a 3-2 win, but receiving the no-decision. Boasting two wins this year and only looking better the second time this LHP has thanked Philadelphia continually as he went over the .500 level with each win this year. Shane Victorino is the lone bright spot against the starter in his career, but crooked numbers such as Jimmy Rollins hitting at an .063 clip is scarily becoming the norm.

The Philadelphia Phillies and Roy Oswalt battled to win 7-4 against the Reds in the opening series, taking game two. Oswalt went 1-3 and figured in all decisions this year against the Giants, but showed his worth when he actually received some run support after joining the Phillies. A lot of these Giants hitters are quite familiar with today’s 2nd starter, posting good numbers but nothing to get excited about on either side.

Giants vs Phillies NLCS Prediction for Game 2:

Runline Prediction (Top Play) — This game is truly one of the hardest I’ve had to pick; I’ve gone back and forth, checking and re-checking the stats. But watching Jonathan Sanchez in the previous series has given me the confidence in cautiously taking him here in this spot. But how can Philadelphia go down 2-0 at home, is it possible? I think it may be probable, with Doc Halladay getting roughed up and needing the extra run support the Phillies batters just weren’t there for him. You cannot ignore the history of these two pitchers and the game total seems to only be offering a fifty-fifty chance in this one.

Game Total Prediction – This game could end up being a 3-1 final and the pitchers win out or can offer up a myriad of scoring chances. While showing a wacky final score of 9-2, either way I was not prepared to offer this one up as my top play. If a game starting with Halladay versus Lincecum goes to hit a total of seven, why wouldn’t this one? The middle of the lineup did the job for the Phillies, but Victorino (leadoff) and Rollins went a combined 0-9 with five strikeouts, which was the difference. Whereas a good mixture throughout for the San Francisco Giants lineup helped solidify the slight advantage and thus securing the 4-3 win in game one.
