The MLB is set up with an action packed slate of baseball throughout Friday night. Fourteen games will be up on the board on July 22. One of these games will be between the Cleveland Cavaliers and Chicago White Sox. These two teams have been solid this season and will look for a big win in this one. This game will start at around 8:10 PM Eastern time.
Cleveland has earned a record of 46-44 throughout this season, which has them sitting in second place of the AL Central. The Guardians have won three games in a row and are 6-4 in their last 10 games. Cleveland is two games back on the top seeded Minnesota Twins. The Guardians will look to remain hot after the All-Star break in this one.
The White Sox have put up a record of 46-46 so far this season, which has them in third place of the AL Central. Chicago is coming off a win in their last game and are 7-3 throughout their last 10. The White Sox find themselves three games out of the top spot after a rough start to this season. Chicago will look for a big home win in this one.
These two teams are competing towards the top of the AL Central this season. The Guardians have been a bit better this season, but Chicago has caught up after a strong stretch as of late. The White Sox will look to close that gap more with a win at home. If either team can step up early, it could lead them to the win.

These two teams have met up nine times throughout this season. Cleveland hosted the first three games and swept the White Sox. The next two shifted to Chicago, where each team won a game. The next four games were back in Cleveland. The Guardians won the first two, while the White Sox won the next two. Cleveland has outscored the White Sox 45-32 in the season series.

The Guardians have been solid hitting the ball this season. Cleveland has a .249 batting average, which is 9th in the MLB. The Guardians have earned an on base percentage of .314, which is 15th in the league. Cleveland has put up a .698 OPS, which is 17th in the MLB. The Guardians have a BA of .260 against righties.
Chicago has been solid at the plate as well on the season. The White Sox have a batting average of .257, which is 3rd in the league. Chicago has posted a .311 OBP, which is 18th in the MLB. The White Sox have earned an OPS of .696, which is 18th in the league. Chicago has hit .250 against right handers this season.
Cleveland has been the better team at the plate this season and will look to keep their bats going in this one. The White Sox will look to come out strong after the All-Star break at home. Both teams have hit well against right handers this season. If either team can rack up the hits early, it could be enough for the win.
Cal Quantrill will likely get the start at pitcher for the Guardians in this one. Quantrill has started in 17 games this season, going 6-5 in those matchups. He has posted a 3.75 ERA and a WHIP of 1.29 in those games. Quantrill pitched six innings in his last start against the Detroit Tigers. He gave up four hits en route to the win.
I expect Lucas Giolito to get the nod on the mound for Chicago on Friday night. Giolito has earned a record of 6-5 throughout his 16 starts this season. He has put up an ERA of 4.69 and a 1.404 WHIP in those outings. Giolito’s last start was against Cleveland. He gave up five hits and one run through six and third innings in the win.
These two pitchers have been solid this season and will look to come out fast. Giolito has won two of his last three starts, while Quantrill has won two in a row. Cleveland has a slight edge in the bullpen in this one. The Guardians relievers have a combined 3.66 ERA, which is 11th in the MLB. The White Sox’s bullpen has an ERA of 3.90, which is 18th in the league.
The White Sox will look to continue to gain ground in the division with a big win coming out of the All-Star break. Cleveland has had Chicago’s number this season though and will look to keep it going. The White Sox will look for Giolito and their hitters to step up early. If Chicago can get the lead early at home, I think they can hold on for the win.
Bovada has the White Sox listed as a -150 against the money line in this one. This implies that Chicago will win this game around 60 percent of the time. I agree with this line, but I do not see a lot of value in it. The White Sox are also listed at -1 ½ for +130. If Chicago can remain hot coming out of the break, I think they can cover the spread.
