The Houston Astros are out west for a three-game tilt against the Oakland Athletics. They are coming off a sweep of the Seattle Mariners at T-Mobile Park.
On Sunday afternoon, the Astros pummeled Robbie Ray for 10 hits and 6 earned runs in 3 innings of work. Ray had nothing to offer yesterday afternoon, as he struggled to put things together.
The Angels folded and are 23.5 games behind the Astros in the division. Even by the Angels’ mediocre standards, this is an awful season at 40-55.
It’s unlikely that any team is going to pose a threat to the Astros. The Mariners came on nicely, but they’re not going to have enough. Chasing a wildcard in a tight race in the American League looks right.
The Astros enter the Coliseum on a five-game winning streak. Along with sweeping the Mariners, they were coming off two wins over the Yankees at Minute Maid Park.
Oakland lost an 11-8 final to the Rangers on Sunday afternoon. They were looking for a sweep, and made an 11-1 game look interesting late, but came up short. Winning a series is a step in a better direction, though.
Jake Odorizzi and Adam Oller are scheduled to be on the hill for this start tonight. Head below for our free Astros vs. Athletics prediction on July 25, 2022.

Astros vs. Athletics Prediction:
Jake Odorizzi will look to improve on a 3.56 ERA and 1.19 WHIP against the Athletics at the Coliseum tonight. He’s been in pretty good shape through ten starts this season.
He has a career ERA of 3.93 and a 1.24 WHIP in 229 games since 2012. Ten years later, Odorizzi is holding those same numbers in 2022.
The veteran was coming off a stellar performance prior to that one against the A’s, though. He allowed 4 hits and no runs in a 6-1 win at the Coliseum in Oakland on July 10.
Overall, he’s been in good form against the Athletics, with a .216 batting average allowed in 97 at-bats. He takes on this team at the Coliseum, where the A’s have been awful with a .197 average and 2.72 runs per 9 innings.

Adam Oller needs a big start to hold the Astros down tonight. The rookie is going through serious turbulence through his first ten major league appearances.
It hasn’t been difficult to get on base against Oller. He has a .409 OBA, so that will have to improve considerably at home tonight.
Oller may show improvement in this one, but it’s going to be tough with Odorizzi on the other side. Odorizzi is likely going to have the superior performance. I’m siding with the Astros to win and cover on the runline.
