Sammy Long opened the game for 3 innings while the Giants rode the bullpen to hold on. The Giants had a 2-0 lead going into the top of the 8th inning; then it was 2-1, 3-1, and then finally 3-2. The Dodgers had something going but couldn’t finish.
The Dodgers maintain a half-game lead in the NL West over the Padres. Thanks to back-to-back wins, the Giants have pulled within 4.5 games of the Dodgers.
It’s a long season, and winning the first two months doesn’t mean much. The Dodgers look vulnerable in 2022. We’ll see how well things play after the trade deadline.
This is the Dodgers we’re talking about, so this is expected. Walker Buehler was added to the 14-day IL to complicate their pitching staff more. Clayton Kershaw recently made a return, but now Buehler is injured.
Something has been off with Buehler this season, so a break is likely best for him. Julio Urias will close out the series this afternoon at Oracle Park. Carlos Rodon goes for the Giants.

Dodgers vs. Giants Prediction:
Julio Urias might be the guy to prevent the Dodgers from getting swept at Oracle Park. Urias is entering this afternoon with an ERA of 2.78 and a 1.11 WHIP. He has posted an ERA of 3.12 and a 1.27 WHIP in his previous three attempts.
Note that Urias has allowed 1 or no earned runs in four of his previous five starts this season. He is coming off a solid performance against a tough Mets offense, with 3 hits and 1 earned run conceded in 5.1 innings of work.
Urias has been a touch better on the road, with an ERA of 2.40 and a 1.20 WHIP across 30 innings of work.
The Giants are hitting .176 with 2 home runs against Urias in 132 at-bats. The bullpen has been in good form this season for the Dodgers.
The key to success for the Giants will likely be found in the arm of Carlos Rodon. Rodon hasn’t been perfect, with a 3.51 ERA and 1.25 WHIP. However, I wouldn’t want to face Rodon at Oracle Park.

Chris Taylor is the only Dodger that has gone deep on Rodon in his career. The pitching has not been what the Giants have expected this season, but Rodon has been one constant in the rotation.
I’d look at the UNDER in another 4-2 or 3-2 final in the series finale at Oracle Park.
