It is a doubleheader day in Seattle at T-Mobile Park. The LA Angels and Seattle Mariners are currently in the middle of the first game. It’s currently a back-and-forth game, with the Mariners giving up a 1-0 lead in the 4th frame.

Last night it was the Mariners’ night, as they torched the Angels for an 8-1 win. It was a nice response for the Mariners after losing the opener on Thursday night, 4-1. Robbie Ray carried a no-hitter into the 8th inning last night.
It was the second game in three attempts that the Angels were nearly no-hit. That wasn’t as close as the Dodgers game. Shohei Ohtani recorded a triple with Tyler Anderson two outs away from a no-hitter.
The Angels started off pretty well this season. They were neck and neck with the Houston Astros for a while to open the campaign. However, a 14-game losing streak will wreak havoc on a team.

They’re 11 games behind the Astros at 30-36 with this afternoon pending. There is a lot of track left this season, but you’re not going to find too much confidence behind this team doing much. The Angels haven’t done anything in the past to suggest they’ll come through in the second half.
Having two players that could be named MVP doesn’t matter for the Angels. Ohtani and Trout could take turns being MVPs, but learning how to win is still tough.
The Mariners had good news from Ray last night. He hasn’t been pitching with too much confidence, but looked at his best Friday night.
Seattle is currently getting a good start from Chris Flexen on the mound. They may be going with a bullpen game for the second meeting of the doubleheader. Jose Saurez is confirmed for the Angels.

Angels vs. Mariners Prediction:
The Angels are turning to Jose Suarez tonight. Going to Suarez at the back of their rotation is part of the problem in Anaheim. The back of their rotation lacks depth, and they rely on their offense to win games in these spots.
Suarez is going into tonight with an ERA of 5.96 and a 1.85 WHIP. He’s putting too many runners on base with poor command this season.
Going into this one, he’s notched an ERA of 6.52 and a 2.28 WHIP in his previous three starts. He hasn’t cared for going on the road as well.
Suarez opens his start at T-Mobile Park with an ERA of 7.00 and a 2.33 WHIP on the road. He’s allowed 15 hits, 6 walks, and 3 home runs in 9 innings as a visiting club this season.
The Mariners have hit 2 home runs and 5 RBIs against Suarez in 47 at-bats. J.P. Crawford is 5-for-13 with a.385 BA, while four other players in the line are hitting .333 or better versus Suarez.
This should be a good spot for the Mariners to get their bats going against the Angels. With both teams having to use their bullpen in the first game, there should be chances against tired bullpens as well.
Los Angeles Angels vs. Seattle Mariners Betting Trends:
Angels
- Record (Last 10): 3-7
- 1-5 overall in their previous six games versus a team with a losing record
- 1-7 overall in their previous seven games versus a right-handed starter
- OVER is 6-0-1 in their previous seven games on a Saturday
- OVER is 10-4-1 in thier previous 15 second game of a doubleheader
- OVER is 7-1 in their previous eight games on the road versus a team with a losing record
Mariners
- Record (Last 10): 4-6
- 11-2 overall in their previous 13 fourth game of a series
- 1-4 overall in their previous five games at home
- OVER is 15-5 in their previous 20 games versus a team with a losing record
- OVER is 7-1 in their previous eight second game of a doubleheader
- OVER is 8-3 in their previous 11 games versus the Angels
The Mariners currently don’t have a starter pencilled in for the doubleheader. They had Chris Flexen deliver a strong outing in the first game, but there is no confirmation for the second meeting of the day.
That doesn’t feel like a winning formula in a doubleheader. Their bullpen has already been taxed because of the earlier matchup. In any event, expect runs, or at least enough for the OVER to hit at 8.5 runs.
