Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Colorado Rockies Pick – MLB July 29, 2022

The Los Angeles Dodgers and Colorado Rockies will do it all over again at Coors Field tonight. The Dodgers blasted the Rockies for a dominant 13-0 performance last night. There wasn’t anything that they did wrong in that contest.

The offense started early and often, while Tyler Anderson carried the load on the mound. Anderson was on point all night, as he allowed 4 hits and no earned runs in the 13-run win. Trea Turner was the big winner for the Dodgers, as he went 3-for-4 with 3 runs and 3 RBIs.

The Dodgers have been linked to phenom Juan Soto, but if they’re going to do that in a trade it’s going to not come cheap. The Nationals aren’t giving Soto away for a bag of balls.

It would be very Dodgers-like to trade for a bat like Soto. Do they want to give away a plethora of assets for a player that might be available in two years anyway? Focusing on depth for their pitching staff is probably the better plan.

The offense doesn’t have many holes. They’re stacked without Soto in the lineup.

The Dodgers are going into Friday night at 66-32 and a 12-game lead on the Padres in the NL West. They’re in the clear, but do they have enough to win the World Series?

There is certainly enough on this roster to win another World Series. It all comes to who plays better in October. Maybe it’s the Dodgers. It’s not the Rockies, who are last in the NL West and 22 games back.

The Rockies have lost six of their last eight games going into Coors Field tonight. I’m sure a 13-run loss can’t hurt for motivation to play better. We’ll see with Chad Kuhl on the bump. Julio Urias is starting for the Dodgers.

Dodgers vs. Rockies Prediction:

Julio Urias is a terrific asset for the Dodgers. He is going into this start with an ERA of 2.72 and a 1.00 WHIP. The rotation hasn’t been in full health this season, but Urias has done a nice job to hold his own.

Urias enters Coors Field with an ERA of 4.20 and a 1.00 WHIP in his previous three attempts.

He’s strong on the road, with a 2.48 ERA and 1.03 WHIP. However, there’s one team that Urias hasn’t been at his best against and he’s looking at them in Denver tonight.

They’ve scored 22 RBIs with a .268 batting average vs Urias in 177 at-bats. There are nine hitters on the Rockies hitting better than .300. Blackmon, Bryant, Cron, and Daza are all striking for .350 or better against Urias.

It’s been tough at Coors Field, with Urias yielding a .287 batting average and 35 runs in 11 games. Coors Field is his least successful park in the majors, so this could be tricky after the Rockies didn’t score a run on Thursday.

The Rockies may not win many games, but they’re hitting .261 for second in the majors.

At Coors Field, the Rockies are hot with a .283 and 5.98 runs per 9 innings. We didn’t see it last night, but they should wake up against Urias.

LA Dodgers vs. Colorado Rockies Betting Trends:

  • Record (Last 10): 8-2
  • 5-0 overall in their previous five games on the road
  • 43-13 overall in their previous 46 second game of a series
  • OVER is 7-2-1 in their previous ten games on the road versus a team with a losing record
  • OVER is 5-2-1 in their previous eight games on the road
  • OVER is 3-1-1 in their previous five games at Colorado

  • Record (Last 10): 4-6
  • 4-1 overall in their previous five second game of a series
  • 13-6 overall in their previous 19 games at home
  • OVER is 5-1-1 in their previous seven games versus a left-handed starter
  • OVER is 6-1 in their previous seven games after conceding 5 or more runs
  • OVER is 4-0 in their previous four games on a Friday

  • The Dodgers should have a fine evening against Chad Kuhl. Kuhl was pitching well, some of the best baseball of his career, but he’s unraveling as of late.

He’s entering Coors Field with an ERA of 9.00 and a 2.25 WHIP in his previous three outings.

The Dodgers have notched 7 RBIs in 53 at-bats against Kuhl in his career. They’re red-hot after a big night at the dish and continue to lead the majors with a .775 OPS.

The Dodgers are the second-best team in the majors with 5.26 runs scored per 9 innings. They are also fourth in batting average with a .257.

The Dodgers have scored 20 runs in their last two games and at least 5 runs in 10 of their previous 13 outings. They likely keep going at the dish in this one, while the Rockies should have some decent success versus Urias. I’m on the OVER in what should be a high-scoring game at Coors Field.
