Marlins vs. Braves Pick MLB – August 11th

An unfortunate losing pick yesterday with the Texas Rangers. The Rangers had base runners on 2nd and 3rd with 1 out on two different occasions in the ballgame, but failed to get anything out of that. Do that in the playoffs against a good team and things like that will end up sinking the Rangers chances at a championship. Even after stranding 8 runners, they still managed to compile 5 runs and take the game 5-4. My official play was the RL, so it’s too bad they couldn’t scratch across one more run. In the top of the 9th there was a great chance, but once again couldn’t get the runner in from 3rd.

That’s going to happen in sports betting, especially while having such a successful season. Even after a couple of bad beats, Major League Baseball has pocketed me plenty of dough this summer. In any case, I am looking forward to the official start of football season and cashing in on a big season.

Free MLB Pick:

Miami Marlins +220 at Atlanta Braves -250 (Total: 7)

Henderson Alvarez (2-1, 2.80 ERA) vs. Mike Minor (11-5, 2.76 ERA)

The Atlanta Braves had their 14 game win streak snapped yesterday due to a 1-0 loss to the Marlins. Regardless of what happened yesterday, the Braves’ run was quite impressive and they should get back in the win column Sunday afternoon behind Mike Minor. Minor has been a steady, consistent member of the Braves rotation that has been more than earning his paycheck in 2013. He is just another reason why the Braves are one of the most dangerous teams in baseball today. Minor brings a stout ERA of 2.76 to Sunday against a Marlins team that has routinely struggled to score runs all season long. There wasn’t a run scored in the game yesterday until the top of the 9th which ultimately became the winning run. Minor has particularly been money in his last three starts, where he posted a 1.50 ERA with a WHIP of 0.85 in 20 innings pitched.

The problem with the Marlins certainly isn’t in the pitching rotation. They have multiple young arms that can take care of opposing offenses on a regular basis. The Marlins do however have issues in their offense. Henderson Alvarez is another one of those pitchers that has showcased plenty of promise with his outings this season. The former Blue Jay has only been a part of the starting rotation since July 4th, but has made a strong case to remain there into next season. One of the most mind boggling figures on Alvarez is that he hasn’t allowed a single home run all season long. Not at home, or on the road, Alvarez hasn’t getting up a dinger in any start. All of his numbers are pretty consistent throughout, with his ERA of 2.80 on par with his showings on the road, 2.84 ERA, and in his last three starts, 2.21 ERA.

With runs difficult to come by yesterday, I expect some more of the same Monday. Alvarez and Minor are both on fire and have avoided getting rocked in any start thus far this season. The Marlins can’t score against any pitcher, let alone one of the hottest in baseball today. I’m going to get back to what I’m most comfortable today, which is totals. This game should sail under the number, so I recommend taking a look at the UNDER 7 if you are looking for a Sunday play.
