The White Sox nearly battled back to give us a very profitable day, but the heavily favored Nationals held on for an 8-7 win. Oakland and Jarrod Parker easily dispatched the similarly favored Angels to give us another profitable winning day.
We will try to keep the ball rolling today with a couple of interesting series finales in MLB.
Atlanta Braves -153 at Miami Marlins +145
Mike Minor vs. Alex Sanabia
Betting against the Marlins would be the easiest wager in sports if moneylines weren’t involved. Of course, they are, so it is important to find good value in every MLB wager. The Atlanta Braves, with their stud pitcher Mike Minor on the mound at just -150, are a good example of a good value wager.
Miami has been dreadful this season and enter tonight at 1-7. For the season they are a league worst -561 units from a wagering perspective, and from an on-field perspective, their 16 runs scored are easily the worst in the league.
Then consider Atlanta, cruising at 7-1, scoring in abundance with 36 runs and the second best run differential in the league at +18. I’d like the Braves tonight at twice the price, but am happy to get them at just -153. I think they’ll win easily behind a good pitching performance by Minor and are also a good value at +105.

New York Mets at Philadelphia Phillies
Jeremy Heffner vs. Kyle Kendrick
The Mets have been one of the early season surprises (granted, VERY early) thank to some excellent starting pitching and better-than-expected offense. They are off to a 5-3 start with a very encouraging +15 run differential. Today they will try to take the rubber game off a familiar foe in starting pitcher Kyle Kendrick.
Kendrick is just 5-7 in his career against the Mets, but likely deserves a better record, posting a respectable 3.56 ERA. He is coming off a disappointing first start in which he allowed 5 runs in 5 2/3 innings and was visibly displeased when manager Charlie Manuel came out to give him the quick hook.
I expect him to pitch a little better, but I like the value of the Mets tonight at plus-money. They are averaging a scorching 7.3 runs per nine innings against right handed pitching, and will likely get a quality start tonight Jeremy Heffner. I’ll take another underdog tonight and go with the Mets at +116.
