Milwaukee Brewers vs. San Francisco Giants Pick – MLB July 14, 2022

The Milwaukee Brewers and San Francisco Giants have a four-game on the docket at Oracle Park. The Giants look to build on back-to-back wins over the Diamondbacks with a successful series against the Brewers.

The Giants have work to do after the All-Star break if they’re going to repeat in the NL West. They edged out the Dodgers by one game to capture the divisional title in an upset. The Dodgers were pretty well the favorites to the final week, all the while the Giants were leading.

The Giants are 13 games behind the Dodgers for leading claims in the NL West. LA is clear of the Padres by 8.5 games for a comfortable gap.

It should be interesting to see what the Giants choose to do at the trade deadline. They have options. Buy or sell? It’s likely buy, but nothing too exotic.

The Brewers probably do some tweaks at the deadline to improve their roster.

Milwaukee is 49-40 and have a two-game lead on the Cardinals in the NL Central. They’ve had a small cushion on the Cardinals recently, with this division likely going down to the wire.

The Brewers are coming off a split at Target Field vs the Twins. They opened with a 6-3 win behind a decent performance from Jason Alexander, but had no offense yesterday. Joe Ryan foiled the Brewers with 2 hits and 1 earned run in 5.1 innings.

This looks like a quality pitching matchup at Oracle Park. Corbin Burnes and Carlos Rodon, two Cy Young candidates, will have the spotlight on Thursday night. Head below for our free Brewers vs. Giants prediction on July 14, 2022.

Brewers vs. Giants Prediction:

The Brewers have their ace on the mound to open this series at Oracle Park. Corbin Burnes provides the Brewers with their best chance of winning the opener.

Burnes has an ERA of 2.20 and a 0.89 WHIP through 107 innings of work.

He’s going into this start with an ERA of 1.74 and a 0.77 WHIP in his previous three outings. Burnes allowed 9 hits and 4 earned runs in 22.1 innings, and is coming off a shutout over the Chicago Cubs.

Despite Burnes delivering a gem, the bats didn’t come through for him. The Cubs did just enough damage for a 2-1 win.

He should have another strong performance in this one at Oracle Park. Burnes has stopped the Giants cold in past meetings.

The Giants are hitting .067 with a .128 OBP in 22 at-bats vs Burnes.

Expect Burnes to have a big performance, but he’s going to need everything to outduel Carlos Rodon. Rodon is in sharp form at the moment and should offer tough resistance.

  • Rodon carries an ERA of 2.70 and a 1.06 WHIP through 107 innings of work. He’s currently in the best form of his 2022 campaign.

Rodon enters this one with 1 or fewer earned runs allowed in five of his previous six trips to the hill.

In his latest performance, Rodon conceded 1 earned run and 3 hits in a 3-1 win over the San Diego Padres. He’s liked pitching at Oracle Park, as Rodon owns a 2.08 ERA and 1.13 WHIP in 39 frames.

Rodon has held the Brewers in check through 35 at-bats. The Brewers are hitting .164 with 1 home run during that stretch.

The total is low at Oracle Park tonight for good reason. Expect Burnes and Rodon to duel in a pitcher’s game in the Bay Area. Look for a final score of 3-2, with the game staying UNDER the total.
