We had a little bit of an off night last night as I went 1 for 3 in my free plays – hit the Jays/Yankees OVER pretty easily, but failed to cash in on underdogs with the Twins and Cubs at home. I am very confident in my picks today and think we should have a nice winning and profitable day today, as I look to get back to my normal winning ways. I am playing two run lines today (something that you don’t see me doing too too often), a decent sized underdog in the NL, and a total play in a later AL game. Again, I am pretty confident in my MLB predictions for today (Tuesday, August 3rd) so check them out below, good luck!

MLB Predictions for August 3rd:
Philadelphia Phillies @ Florida Marlins – The Phillies are rolling, winning 9 of their last 11 games, as they look to inch closer to the Braves who have a 3 game lead in the NL East division. The Marlins are still alive in the NL East, sitting 7 games back, but will need to start putting together some winning streaks to give themselves a chance to compete. Philadelphia will send Roy Halladay to the mound who is 12-8 on the season with a superb ERA of just 2.21 on the season. Florida is going with lefty Sean West, who is making his first appearance in the majors tonight. West is 4-3 with a 4.12 ERA in Triple-A with New Orleans on the season. The Phillies are 11-3 in their last 14 meetings with the Marlins and the pitching match up heavily favors Philly here tonight. PREDICTION – PHILLIES -1.5 (-115)
Cleveland Indians @ Boston Red Sox – The Indians pulled off the upset last night, winning by a score of 6-5. Tonight the Indians will go with left David Huff who is just 2-9 on the season with a 6.04 ERA. The Red Sox are sending Josh Beckett to the mound who is 2-1 on the season with his 6.33 ERA, but is a more respectable 1-0 in his last 3 starts with a 3.63 ERA. The Red Sox are 15-5 in Beckett’s last 20 home starts, and knowing how important this series is to them for a playoff spot, look for Boston to come out to play tonight. PREDICTION – RED SOX -1.5 (-125)
New York Mets @ Atlanta Braves – Atlanta won the opener of the series 4-1 last night, as they continue to pad their NL East lead. Tonight the Mets will send R.A. Dickey to pitch who is 7-4 on the year with a solid 2.32 ERA. In his last three starts Dickey is 1-1 with a 1.29 ERA and has a WHIP of just 0.81. The Braves counter with Derek Lowe who is 10-9 on the season with a 4.58 ERA. In his past 3 starts Lowe is just 1-1 with a 6.19 ERA. Although the Braves are a tough team to beat at home, I look for the Mets to take one of these games in Atlanta, and with the odds given for this pitching match up I think tonight is a great spot to bet it. PREDICTION – METS TO WIN (+126)
Kansas City Royals @ Oakland Athletics – Oakland took the opener last night 6-0 as Trevor Cahill pitched a complete game. Kyle Davies is on the mound for the Royals, and is 5-6 on the season with a 5.48 ERA. The Athletics go with Vin Mazzaro tonight, who is 6-3 on the year with a 4.04 ERA. The over is 10-3 in these two teams last 13 meetings, and 7-1 in Mazzaros last 8 home starts. The over is also 11-3-2 in KC’s last 16 games as an underdog. I am following the trends for this match up with a relatively low total. PREDICTION – OVER 8 RUNS (-112)
