Had a nice 2-0 yesterday, hitting both of my over under wagers. Both games ended up playing out how I envisioned, and we all collected a nice payday in the end. If you followed my leans on the Tigers team total, and the Tigers RL, then you had yourself a nice 4-0 day. For whatever reason, I always do well on my Saturday bets. I believe this is the fifth or fourth weekend in a row I have cleaned up on Saturday. Let’s carry some of that momentum with us into Sunday’s card.
Free MLB Pick:
San Diego Padres +153 at Colorado Rockies -173 (Total: 11)
Clayton Richard (1-5, 8.38 ERA) vs. Juan Nicasio (4-2, 4.76 ERA)
This matchup between the Padres and Rockies features two of MLB’s finest aces. Okay, obviously some sarcasm injected into that comment. This game actually features perhaps the worst pitcher in all of baseball, Clayton Richard. I guess if you look at Nicasio compared to Richard, then you may find yourself an ace. Not quite, but Richard is at the bottom of the barrel when it comes to pitching in MLB. I took the Dodgers last series when Richard was pitching, and as offensively dysfunctional as they are, I predicted they were going to smash the ball off of Richard. The Dodgers sure did, as they scored 6 runs in 4 innings off of him. The Dodgers normally struggle to score half of that in a game, never mind 6 runs in 4 innings of work.
There really aren’t any stats that Richard can hang his hat on. He has an 8.38 ERA, .378 OBP, 1.81 WHIP, and he has also given up 12 homeruns. His ERA on the road is even more atrocious, where that currently stands at 10.18. If you are a pitcher that likes to give up plenty of dingers, Coors Field is definitely not the place you want to find yourself at.
Richard’s counterpart, Juan Nicasio, can’t really say much with his 4.76 ERA, but he has had some solid starts, something Richard can’t say. Oddly enough, Richard’s best start of the season came against the Rockies back on April 14th. Since that game, Richard has crashed and burned. I think the Rockies are going to inflict a little revenge on Richard this afternoon, lighting up the scoreboard with ease. The total of 11 should go over the number, but I believe a safer bet could be on the Rockies team total OVER. I see no numbers posted yet, but I may play that along with my official play, which is the Rockies RL. The Rockies should bounce back after dropping their second meeting in the series yesterday, 4-2. If Richard survives this season much longer, he will continue to be a great pitcher to fade.
Free Pick: Colorado Rockies -1.5 (+105)
