The Philadelphia Phillies and Atlanta Braves are at Truist Park in Georgia for the third meeting in this four-game series.
The Phils and Braves split the first two games, with the Phillies winning the opener, 7-3, and then the Braves responding with a William Contreras walk-off in the bottom of the 9th.

Atlanta was coming off a blown top of the 9th after Kenley Jansen allowed 2 runs on 1 hit. It was almost another frustrating loss for the Braves, but they got a much-needed lift from the barrel of Contreras’ bat. That’s the type of win that can send the Braves on a run.
Coming off a World Series, the Braves have been slow out of the gate. They are healthy and have Ronald Acuna Jr. and Marcell Ozuna in the lineup, but the Braves have looked a bit hungover.
The Braves are going into Wednesday night with a record of 20-23. The good news for this team is they weren’t fast starters in 2021, either. Injuries played a role in what happened last year in the first half, and then they learned how to win after the All-Star break.
The Phillies are going into this one struggling as of late, with four losses in five games. For a minute, it looked like the Phillies had something cooking up. They had won four in a row, which included three straight wins over the LA Dodgers.
Philadelphia went to Dodger Stadium and won the first three games in a four-game tilt. They barely lost the series finale in a 5-4 loss and have been going sideways since then. After beating the Dodgers on May 14, they’ve gone 2-6 in their last eight.
Ranger Suarez and Charlie Morton are scheduled to get the starting calls tonight. Morton hasn’t gotten off to the ebay start, but he’s been showing signs of stabalizing recently.

Phillies vs. Braves Prediction:
This hasn’t been the start that Charlie Morton envisioned in 2022. He’s better than we’ve seen thus far, so don’t be surprised to see his numbers steadily improve as we go into the summer.
Morton is entering tonight with an ERA of 4.95 ERA and 1.45 WHIP. Fortunately for Morton and the Braves, he’s at Truist Park where it’s been business as usual for him.
Morton has an ERA of 6.75 and a 1.83 WHIP on the road. However, he has been in form at home. Morton owns an ERA of 2.89 and a 1.02 WHIP.
His bad work came earlier in the season to open up the campaign. Morton was tagged for 11 earned runs in three starts from April 20 to May 3, but has bounced back to form since then.
Morton recorded a 2.20 ERA and 0.98 WHIP in his previous three starts following that stretch. Two of those attempts were at home, where Morton was in top form with 4 hits and 1 earned run conceded through 11 innings.
The Phillies haven’t been at their best recently at the plate. Since beating the Dodgers, they’ve been cold, with 5 runs scored in only one of eight games. Philadelphia has averaged a lowly 2.4 runs per game in their last seven going into tonight.

Ranger Suarez has been operating in fine form this season. Suarez is entering with an ERA of 4.12 and a 1.45 WHIP. His last two starts weren’t without damage, though.
He most recently struggled to last more than 3 innings, as Suarez was tagged for 5 hits and 3 earned runs in a 4-1 loss to the LA Dodgers. The Braves are hitting .244 with a .354 OBP versus Suarez in 28 at-bats.
He held the Braves to a .244, but they notched 8 RBIs against Suarez. Suarez had trouble keeping runners off the bases and he gave up 2 home runs.
The Phillies had a frustrating loss last night, and they’ve been reeling since a successful trip to Los Angeles. I’m on the Braves to keep on course with another win tonight.
