The Pittsburgh Pirates and Los Angeles Dodgers meet at Dodger Stadium for a three-game series. After a three-game series against the San Diego Padres at Petco Park, the Pirates head further north to LA.

Pittsburgh gave the Padres a good battle. They won a game and were just edged out in the season opener, 4-3.
The Pirates had another solid pitching performance on Sunday afternoon. Roansy Contreras allowed 5 hits and 2 earned runs across 5 innings of work.
The Padres don’t have the best lineup at the plate right now. They have injuries and are dealing with several holes. The Pirates aren’t going to have that luxury at Dodger Stadium.
Pittsburgh is going into tonight at 19-27 in the NL Central. They are 10.5 games behind the Milwaukee Brewers for the lead. Pirates fans have to look at this as baby steps. They can’t expect too much.
They’ve been good in spots, so it isn’t all complaints. However, the bad Pirates were swept by the St. Louis Cardinals last week. The Pirates beat the Rockies in two of three games before playing competitive baseball in San Diego.
The Dodgers are going into tonight with a record of 33-14. They have won six of their previous seven going into tonight. The Dodgers swept the Arizona Diamondbacks in four games in their latest series.

When the Dodgers are focused and at their best, they will beat any team in the majors. However, Dodgers fans don’t care about regular season success at this point. All that matters is October baseball.
Zach Thompson and Walker Buehler are scheduled to receive the starting call at Dodger Stadium this evening. Head below for our free Pirates vs. Dodgers prediction on May 30, 2022.

Pirates vs. Dodgers Prediction:
Zach Thompson is looking for a good start tonight after struggling in his most recent performances.
Thompson is on to his ninth start this season. He is going into this one with an ERA of 5.50 and a 1.54 WHIP.
His worst work has come on the road, where Thompson has posted an ERA of 7.50 and a 2.08 WHIP. Opponents have notched a .400 OBP versus Thompson in 12 innings.
Thompson allowed 7 hits and 4 earned runs in 3 innings against the Colorado Rockies in his previous performance. That was at PNC Park, so he doesn’t have the excuse of pitching at Coors Field.
Run support for starters in Pittsburgh isn’t the norm, though. They usually have to pitch extremely well for the Pirates to win games.
The Pirates are 29th in the majors with 3.45 runs per 9 innings. The Bucs are hitting .221 for 28th going into tonight.
Their power numbers have locked as well, with just 0.80 home runs per game.

— Los Angeles Dodgers (@Dodgers) May 30, 2022
LA is hot at home with 6.32 runs scored per 9 innings and 1.2 home runs a game. They’ve netted 5.84 runs per 9 innings in their last ten games with a .277 batting average.
