The Chicago White Sox return home after a very good series in Minnesota against the Twins. Minnesota are playing for something; the White Sox are not. However, that didn’t stop the White Sox from winning the series and helping out the Indians with two wins.
Losing like that is hard to swallow when you’re a team in a divisional race. The Twins can’t be going losing two out of three games against inferior opponents. Having said that, the Mets have been helpful at Citi Field. The Mets defeated the Indians in extras last night, so that softens the blow considerably for Minnesota.
The AL Central remains the same after yesterday. Minnesota keep their 2.5-game lead in the division going into Thursday. The White Sox can look to pick up some momentum for next season and play spoiler along the way. They might not be in contention in 2019, with a record of 57-69, but the White Sox have done somethings right that can get fans excited for the future. Yoan Moncada is a young talent who doesn’t come around often. Moncada, who has been playing a rehab stint recently, is scheduled to return to the White Sox tonight.
Texas are coming off a fun day as well. They erased a 7-4 deficit to win on a Hunter Pence walk-off in the 9th inning. The Rangers tied the ball game up in the 8th and then finished the Angels off in the following inning. Pence has been a steal for the Rangers this season, which could have resulted in nice trade bait.
However, the Rangers decided to keep Pence on their roster. Not knowing what the Rangers were offered for him makes it impossible to establish if that was a good move or not. Ariel Jurado and Ross Detwiler are scheduled to start in this one for their respective clubs. Get the rest of our writeup and free Rangers vs. White Sox pick below.

Betting odds provided by bovada.lv
The Texas Rangers have exceeded expectations offensively. Their bats have been swinging well for the majority of the season. The pitching staff has left a lot to be desired, though. They are a top-10 offense, but as a team, the Rangers are 23rd in the majors with an ERA of 4.96. Ariel Jurado has done a disservice to the Rangers in that respect.
He enters Thursday with an ERA of 5.38 and 1.51 WHIP. It’s been especially bad for him recently, where Jurado has gotten rocked for an ERA of 8.53 and 2.05 WHIP in his previous three outings. In his last 5.2 innings pitched, Jurado has gotten pummeled for 10 earned runs and 18 hits. Don’t expect him to suddenly figure it out against the White Sox in Chicago here.
If Ross Detwiler can have a decent enough game, then the White Sox should be in good shape against the Rangers. Problem being, Detwiler hasn’t been too effective for the White Sox. The former National goes into this one with a 6.10 ERA and 1.62 WHIP. In his last two outings, Detwiler got punched for 8 earned runs in 7.2 innings of work.
The Rangers have been good against Detwiler, too. They’re hitting .303 with a .425 OBP in 33 at-bats. They may not be a good team, but there are still some bats in their lineup that a pitcher has to be aware of. The final score is likely going to be of the higher scoring variety, so a play on the OVER looks like a decent selection for Thursday night.
