Rangers vs Yankees Odds and Predictions ALCS Game 3

The Texas Rangers now come to the new Yankee Stadium to face New York for game 3 of the ALCS. First pitch set to take place at 8:07pm ET, Monday October 18th. This awesome lefty match up features Cliff Lee in his prime versus Andy Pettite in his decline. Both are capable to get the job done, but only Lee has been un-hittable throughout his playoff career, not leaving any room for AP and NYC to make any errors.

Texas has really started fast in games this series, but you can always feel the Yankees fighting back to make it close. Clifton Phifer Lee went 2-0 in three starts against the Yanks this year and you know he won’t be giving up many runs. A bad outing for Lee would be 3 to 4 runs given up, that is the level he is pitching at. New York’s batters either hit homeruns with a poor average or a decent avg. with no extra base knocks against the unquestioned ace of Texas.

Andy Pettite went an economical 11-3 this year being his 15th in the majors. He pitched only once against the Rangers in 2010 and won it convincingly in eight innings only giving up two runs. But the last few months the starts have been scheduled sporadically not being at the top of his game, it was surprising to see him penciled in as the game two starter against Minnesota. No doubt due to the fact of AJ Burnett’s untimely inconsistency. The only one in the Arlington lineup that Andy owns would be Nelson Cruz, everyone else has had moderate success in this power-packed recently resourceful lineup.

Rangers vs Yankees ALCS Prediction for Game 3:

Moneyline Prediction (TOP PLAY) – Listening to ‘Phifer’ Lee, he has no preference for the road or home, indubitably due to the fact of him changing homes frequently over the last couple years. A daunting task to be ‘the guy’ and have to prove it at Yankee Stadium in the playoffs, however if this is to be a split in New York they will need this game and Lee is the one to give it to them. Opposing Pettite is a good opportunity, although he can usually stymie the run attack of the opposition. I like the line now being set at 7.5, but Andy can quickly erase base runners with pickoffs and double plays when runners are stuck heading to 1B on the pitch. The Yankees have been playing catch up and will do the same in this one.

MONEY LINE PREDICTION = RANGERS to Win (-111)

Game Total Prediction – As I stated above, the line is a lot more attractive now with us getting the extra half run. I can comfortably predict a final of 5-2, which would give us our under. Despite the fact that both previous games have gone over this total, I cannot see Cliff Lee giving up very much and the only chance for this one to go over, would be if the Rangers bats explode and run AP out of the game early. Then all bets are off for the total. I like, not love this bet, try to find a 5-inning total to bet on, as I believe the last half of the game may get out of hand, if and when these pitchers depart.

PREDICTION = UNDER 7.5 Runs.
