Rangers vs Yankees Predictions and Odds ALCS Game 5

The New York Yankees in a must-win situation send their unheralded ace to the hill for game five. First pitch set for 4:07pm ET at the new Yankee Stadium, which has been very empty come the late innings as they proceed to exit the gates when the Yankees are down. CJ Wilson clearly outperformed CC Sabathia in game one, but yet is still the underdog in this one. Both received no decisions in the first game with NYY coming back to win late 6-5.

The Texas Rangers really lucked out with the comfortable pitching throughout of reliever Derek Holland in game four. He saved it as starter Tommy Hunter’s fastball was a little too hittable and through a couple of home run knocks we realized, those that shouldn’t have counted or otherwise. Yankee batters can all hit against Wilson, but he can own them at times. Will the Rangers bats slow down? I think we can say, even if you keep them quiet for up to eight innings they will always explode in at least one early and late it seems.

New York Yankees and CC Sabathia look to summon back any band wagon jumpers that they can right this ship and continue on their way to Texas and fight until it’s over. CC has been mediocre at best and that’s being nice. As I stated with AJ Burnett he is the opposite as the Yankees show up and stay engaged to win any game he pitches. Which is a big reason why ‘Carbs & Calories’ Sabathia, gets to 21 wins in 2010. He could easily be 0-2 in this years playoffs but New York battles for him and are 2-0, when he pitches.

Rangers vs Yankees ALCS Prediction for Game 5:

Moneyline Prediction (TOP PLAY) – Michael Young has been the only Ranger in his career to put up good numbers against CC Sabathia and everyone else, well they are just atrocious. A good game to rest up and change a few, before their new found confidence of last nights debacle leaves their minds. In game one everything went well for Texas and CJ Wilson, though they still ended up losing. I cannot see CC going another tumultuous four inning start and leaving it to the batters. Look for a determined and scrappy bunch of Yanks with the departure of Mark Teixeira out with that 1B-hammy-injury, it will give the Yankees a much needed change allowing others to finally step up, like in game one.

Game Total Prediction – A hard number for me to bet as I see this one as a 5-4 final when it is said and done, but I can’t see Sabathia giving up a bunch of runs in this one and only maybe three for Wilson. So the bullpen is the issue, but Texas is sure to not make the same mistakes again are they? Well I think they can as the leash for relievers hasn’t been long and when they give a little bit of time to get them adjusted they usually pay with untimely walks and a need to keep burning through RPs. If CC goes deep this one stays under!
