Game two is put in an unfair position as game one surpassed all expectations by making history in Doc Halladay pitching a no-hitter in his first career playoff start after 11 years. Cincinnati again visits Citizens Bank Park, to take on the Philadelphia Phillies and Roy Oswalt, countering with Bronson Arroyo first pitch set for 6:07pm ET, Friday October 8th, 2010. The Reds have lost five straight to the Phillies and haven’t scored a run in the last three.

The Cincinnati Reds can breathe a sigh of relief once they get their first hit on Friday night, as it was a feat that could not be done in game one versus Roy Halladay. Bronson Arroyo did not face the Phillies in 2010 which can attribute in part to him putting up solid numbers and setting a career-high in wins with 17, at the age of 33. Some question not seeing Johnny Cueto, but with him being the similar makeup as game one starter Edison Volquez, Manager Dusty Baker decided to change it up and give Philadelphia a different look with the veteran Arroyo.
Philadelphia warns not to expect a repeat performance from the other Roy, acquired from the Houston Astros. Though Oswalt was their unquestioned ace he had a rough first half, but has been on a tear and put himself at the level of Doc and game three starter Cole Hamels. Oswalt lost both starts against the Reds this year, but both came as a member of the Astros. Imagine if he’d had a team behind him as he wasn’t terrible in either but did get beaten soundly 7-0 in the latest, just before the Phillies salvaged him from Houston.

Reds vs Phillies NLDS Prediction for Game 2:
Prediction (TOP PLAY) – With the Cincinnati Reds confidence at an all-time low after making the playoffs and not even wielding a base-knock. I thought maybe a change would help. But with a similar Pitcher in Roy Oswalt rather than the Lefty-Hamels, look for a similar outcome. Philadelphia may get more chances at scoring but may end up with the offensive output similar to game one. The price isn’t as steep as it was with Halladay, but try and parlay this one. PREDICTION = PHILLIES (-195).
Game Total Prediction – This one will not be as easy as the first, a safe prediction Roy Oswalt will not throw a no-hitter, a shutout perhaps, but until this Reds team shows that they are not overmatched by the Phila. studs at 1,2 and 3. I will ride this trend until they make a series of it, or onto the next one. With Arroyo facing Oswalt, it would usually be an over, but this year and in this game it will be tight, but estimating a 4-2 final. A modest play, but will give the Reds all the credit that they aren’t getting. Bronson to hold them to four again and should get a couple on the board for Cincy. PREDICTION = UNDER 7.
