The first of three games in Denver at Coors Field between the San Francisco Giants and Colorado Rockies is scheduled on Monday night. The Giants are coming off a humiliating loss at Busch Stadium on Sunday Night Baseball.

They were punched in the teeth early and often for a 15-6 loss. The Giants netted 4 runs in the top of the 9th, with Albert Pujols pitching, to make the final score look better, but it didn’t do much to hide that they were down by 13 runs going into the last frame.
Carlos Rodon had his worst performance of the season, as his Cy Young-like Campain suffered an early blow in St. Louis. The Cardinals battered Rodon for 10 hits and 8 earned runs in 3.2 innings.
Rodon had been pitching so well in his first season for the Giants, but that came to a halt at Busch Stadium. With the loss, the Giants lost back-to-back outings in St. Louis for two of three losses over the weekend.

The Giants dropped to 20-14 and 1.5 games behind the Dodgers and Padres in the NL West with the back-to-back losses. They head to Coors Field for a divisional showdown with the Rockies.
Colorado is on a skid with six losses in their previous seven attempts. They are coming off an entertaining 8-7 loss to the Kansas City Royals on Sunday. It was another high-scoring final at Coors as the temperatures heat up and the ball is flying.
Entertaining games are common at Coors Field, and it doesn’t necessarily mean that the Rockies are having a good time. They’ve won more games at home going into tonight, though.
Alex Wood and Antonio Senzatela are penciled in as the starters for the first game of this series tonight. Head below for our free Giants vs. Rockies prediction on May 16, 2022.

Giants vs. Rockies Prediction:
Antonio Senzatela needs to settle down and into a groove for the Rockies. He’s been too inconsistent, with the Rockies not knowing what they will get from him on any given night.
Senzatela is going into tonight with an ERA of 4.88 and a 1.95 WHIP. He’s conceded a .426 OBA, with hitters finding it easy to reach base against the sixth-year righty.
The shortened season in 2020 was a career-high for Senzatela, as he recorded a 3.44 ERA through 12 starts. He is trending back towards his career average since then, though.
Senzatela has a career ERA of 4.85 and a 1.43 WHIP. Across 29.1 innings in 2022, Senzatela has notched a 4.88 ERA and 1.95 WHIP. Senzatela posted an ERA of 5.02 and a 1.88 WHIP in his last three starts.
Putting too many runners on base at Coors is going to lead to quick damage, and it’s been a problem versus the Giants. San Francisco is hitting .375 with a .439 against Senzatela in 97 at-bats.

This season, Alex Wood has been holding up fine with an ERA of 3.60 and a 1.37 WHIP through 117 at-bats. The Rockies are always tough at home, though.
The Rockies are hot offensively with a .279 batting average and 6.74 runs per 9 innings at Coors Field. Overall, they are first in the majors with a .260 average and eighth with 4.85 runs per 9 frames.
Colorado has put up 14 RBIs across 119 at-bats versus Wood in his career. There are seven batters in the lineup hitting better than .313 against Wood.
The Giants are a team that has been known for their pitching, but they have been more of an offensive team. They are second with 5.05 runs scored per 9 innings going into this one.
San Francisco is in the top-10 in the major offensive categories, including home runs and OPS. If Wood isn’t perfect tonight, they should handle Senzatela.
I’m looking at another high-scoring game at Coors Field. Look for more runs on the board in Denver, with the OVER the best bet between the Giants and Rockies.
