The San Francisco Giants and Los Angeles Dodgers reunite for their first series this season. This rivalry series always produces some of the better games on the diamond in Major League Baseball.

The good news for 2022 is that both teams should be good once again and it’s unlikely to be lopsided. San Francisco edged out the Dodgers to win the NL West by a game with a record of 107-55.
Expect the Giants and Dodgers to exchange blows often throughout this season. It all begins on Tuesday night at Dodger Stadium, as they open a short two-game series in California.
The Giants are coming off an 11-5 loss to the Washington Nationals, while the Dodgers closed out the Detroit Tigers with a 6-3 win on Sunday. The Dodgers took two of three games off the Tigers over the weekend.

They responded with a much better performance after not showing up on Saturday. The Tigers recorded a 5-1 win at Dodger Stadium in an upset against Clayton Kershaw. Walker Buehler put the Dodgers on the right track, though.
The usually reliable Giants pitching staff didn’t have it the other day. Alex Cobb didn’t make it out of the 1st inning, as he was beaten down for 4 hits and 3 walks. Somehow, he was only tagged for 1 earned run despite the Nats scoring 5 runs.
The red-hot Carlos Rodon will look to turn the page on that game and deliver a better performance for the Giants tonight. Julio Urias is scheduled to counter for the Dodgers.

Giants vs. Dodgers Prediction:
Carlos Rodon spent the first seven years of his career in Chicago with the White Sox. After a career-high ERA of 2.37 through 24 starts in 2021, Rodon took his services to the Bay Area. The Giants lost Kevin Gausman to free agency in the offseason and replaced him with Rodon.
Rodon was highly regarded early in his career. He had lofty expectations, but it took him a while to put it all together.
It was a long time coming and Rodon finally went into ace mode last year. He posted an ERA of 2.37 and a 0.96 WHIP after dropping out of the 2020 campaign following four appearances.
Rodon is making his fifth start for the Giants in this one. He has been flawless and even looks in better form than last year. Rodon carries an ERA of 1.17 and a 0.83 WHIP across 23 innings of work.
He hasn’t had any problems navigating on the road in this campaign. Rodon enters with an ERA of 0.75 and a 0.75 WHIP. It’s too premature to talk about the Cy Young, but he’s pitching like a guy interested in the National League Cy Young so far.
San Francisco Giants vs. Los Angeles Dodgers Betting Trends:
Giants
- Record (Last 10): 6-4
- 21-5 overall in their previous 26 games after a day off
- 7-3 overall in their previous ten games versus a team with a winning record
- UNDER is 6-2 in their previous eight games after allowing 5 or more runs
- UNDER is 3-1-1 in their previous five games on the road
- UNDER is 7-2 in their previous nine games after their opponent scores 5 or more runs
Dodgers
- Record (Last 10): 6-4
- 47-14 overall in their previous 61 games as a home favorite
- 4-0 overall in their previous four games versus a team with a winning percentage better than 60%
- UNDER is 5-1 in their previous six games
- UNDER is 22-4-1 in the first game of a series
- UNDER is 5-0 in their previous five games after scoring 5 or more runs
Julio Urias looks like a good candidate for the Dodgers to keep up with Rodon if he’s hot again. Urias doesn’t get the most accolades, but he quietly goes about his business in consistent form.
The left is off to another quick start this season, as he enters Tuesday night with an ERA of 2.50 and a 1.00 WHIP in 18 frames. Since allowing 3 runs in his 2022 opener, Urias has given up just 2 earned runs through 11 innings.
Urias has posted an ERA of 1.13 and a 0.63 WHIP across his previous 16 innings.
This Giants lineup hasn’t been at their best with Urias on the bump. They are hitting .177 with a .192 OBP in 98 at-bats. Only one Giant has hit a home run against Urias, this being Austin Slater.
I’m going with the UNDER in what should be a duel between Rodon and Urias. A final score of 3-2 or 4-2 looks about right, with the total best bet at Dodger Stadium.
