The Seattle Mariners and Baltimore Orioles have a first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m. EST at Camden Yards on Wednesday night.
This is the second of three between the Mariners and Orioles. The Mariners opened in good form last night.

Seattle torched the Orioles right out of the gate with an 8-0 lead after 3 frames at the dish. Bryan Baker opened the game allowing 2 hits and 3 earned runs in 1.1 innings of work. It didn’t get better when Zac Lowther entered the matchup.
Lowther conceded 8 hits and 5 earned runs through 5.1 innings. On the opposite side, the Orioles couldn’t figure out George Kirby.
The Mariners could have something special with Kirby. He’s only a rookie and already delivering some elite performances. Seattle is good at developing good young pitchers, but nothing to back them up.

Kirby won’t be perfect, though he’s going in the right direction as a 24-year-old. Robbie Ray is the pitcher that should be putting up elite outings.
Ray parlayed his season in Toronto and Cy Young with a fat contract in Seattle. He is not living up to the money he’s making so far, though.
He had the benefit of going to an organization with a top-notch coaching pitching staff. The Blue Jays tweaked some things and he reinvented himself. The same is happening with Yusei Kikuchi.
Kyle Bradish is scheduled to go for the Orioles. The rookie isn’t off to a hot start. Ray needs to step up as well and has another opportunity to do that in Baltimore tonight.

Mariners vs. Orioles Prediction:
The Mariners need better from Kyle Bradish. He’s getting valuable experience, but Bradish has to follow up with productive work. Bradish is going into this one with an ERA of 7.31 and a 1.52 WHIP across 28.1 innings.
He isn’t showing signs of improvement through six starts, which is the worst sign, but six starts doesn’t decide a career. Bradish recorded an ERA of 11.91 and a 2.21 WHIP in his previous three outings.
The world isn’t expected out of Bradish this early into his career. However, he has to show some indications that he’s getting better.
Bradish has been slightly better at Camden Yards, but nothing notable. He’s posted an ERA of 6.86 and a 1.63 WHIP through 21.1 innings at home.
The Mariners are feeling good recently, as they go into tonight with three wins in four games. This is a nice step in a better direction after losing six straight games.

Ray is heading into this one with an ERA of 4.75 and a 1.20 WHIP. That’s not a $115,000,000 pitcher. Ray has notched an ERA of 6.00 and a 1.28 WHIP in his last three trips to the bump.
Ray enters Camden Yards with an ERA of 5.64 and a 1.38 WHIP. He was whacked for 9 earned runs in 12 innings of work in his last two starts.
The total at 8.5 runs looks low with Ray and Bradish on the mound. One or both are likely to get hit hard Wednesday night. I’m looking at the OVER.
