The St. Louis Cardinals and Boston Red Sox have the second of three games at Fenway Park tonight. The Red Sox are coming off a 6-5 win at home last night.

Adam Wainwright had a decent game going, but couldn’t make it out of the 7th inning after allowing his 4th earned run. Wainwright exited with 7 hits and 4 earned runs allowed at Fenway. Michael Wacha was strong again, allowing 1 earned run through 5.1.
T.J. McFarland entered the game to get blasted for 3 hits and 2 earned runs without recording an out. The Cardinals made things interesting in the 9th inning, but their comeback bid came a run short.
The Red Sox are in a tough AL East, so they’re just trying to stay within touch right now. The Yankees keep winning games and showing no signs of slowing down.

Boston is a respectable 35-30, but they’re still 13.5 games behind the Yankees for the lead in the AL East. The Yankees are clear over the Blue Jays by 11 games going into Saturday.
They have been playing their best baseball since the beginning of the season. If the Red Sox keep trading wins with the Yankees, they aren’t going to get any closer, though.
The wildcard race should be tough in the American League. It will be crowded, with three teams from the AL East in close quarters.
The Cardinals have a one-game lead over the Milwaukee Brewers at 36-30. It’s all Cards and Brewers, with St. Louis owning a 10.5-game lead on the third team.
The Cardinals are expected to send Dakota Hudson to the mound to stop a two-game skid. Rookie Kutter Crawford will counter him. Head below for our free Cardinals vs. Red Sox prediction on June 18, 2022.

Cardinals vs. Red Sox Prediction:
This season, Kutter Crawford is getting his first real experience in the major leagues. He appeared in one game last season but didn’t go well. Crawford has primarily been used as a reliever, with only one start on his resume.
Through 17.1 innings of work, Crawford posted an ERA of 5.74 and a 1.79 WHIP. He’s still trying to feel comfortable at Fenway, which has not been a walk in the park for him.

He’s yielded 4 hits, 5 walks, and a home run during that time at Fenway. His debut was one to remember, though. Crawford went to T-Mobile Park and led the Red Sox to a 2-0 win, with 1 hit and no runs allowed.
He’s avearged just 1.2 innings per appearance this season. Expecting him to go deep into this one is difficult.
The Red Sox are finding a good rhythm at the plate this season. The bats may carry him to a win if Crawford doesn’t have a strong performance.
They have scored 4.78 runs per 9 innings for seventh in the majors. Going into Saturday, the Red Sox are also seven in OPS at .735.

Dakota Hudson is going into Saturday night with an ERA of 3.29 and a 1.25 WHIP in 65.2 innings on the hill. He’s been less sharp on the road at a 3.94 ERA and 1.28 WHIP.
He was swallowed up for 9 hits and 6 runs in 7 innings of work. Keeping the ball down and in Fenway Park will be the key to success with the wind blowing out.
There is a strong gust going out to right field at around 15 mph. If any hitters make good contact and the ball up there it’s going to take off.
There should be some runs on the board between these two capable offenses. Both rank in the top-5 at the plate and get on the bases often. I’d look at the OVER in a game that eclipses 10 runs at Fenway.
