They built a 5-1 lead and held on in the top of the 9th. Texas scored 2 runs and was threatening with the tying run at the plate. The Rangers ripped a double to bring the 3rd run home for the Rangers and needed a long ball.
Noah Syndergaard had a strong performance for the Angels, as he went 8 innings with 4 hits and 1 earned run allowed. Syndergaard was looking to bounce back and he got it last night.
The Angels are only a game behind the Houston Astros, who have a record of 27-17 versus 28-16 for the ‘Stros. The problem with the Angels has been their pitching staff over the years, but is this the year they settle in?
The Rangers made significant changes in the offseason to address their offense. A lack of offensive output was a big issue, so they added Marcus Semien and Corey Seager.
Semien was a prized free agent and he decided on the Rangers. Buyer’s remorse much? He’s been one of the worst players in the majors, without even hitting a home run yet after notching 45 a season ago.
There is more than enough time for Semien to catch fire, but we said the same about Chris Davis early in his monster contract and it never clicked for him. Semien will look for his first long ball at Angel Stadium this evening.
Glenn Otto and Reid Detmers are expected to get the starting call on Wednesday night. Head below for our free Rangers vs. Angels pick on May 25, 2022.

Rangers vs. Angels Prediction:
The Rangers will look to get a good start out of Glenn Otto tonight. The former Yankee is showing why that organization gave up on him. Otto is going into tonight with an ERA of 5.55 and a 1.48 WHIP.
He’s been good in spots, but still looking to find some consistency. In his previous three outings, Otto posted an ERA of 7.20 and a 1.80 WHIP. Through his last 15 innings on the hill, Otto conceded 17 hits and 12 earned runs.
Otto’s command has been a problem. He has yielded 10 walks in his last three starts to go with 17 hits.
Otto was in the Yankees organization, but never received a start. He made the Yankees look smart last year with his first work in the major leagues.
The Texas bullpen has an ERA of 3.66 and a 1.27 WHIP. This is pretty consistent with the Angels, who have a 3.82 ERA and 1.11 WHIP. Reid Detmers likely has the upper hand over Otto, though.

- UNDER is 5-0 in their previous five games
Reid Detmers has to be the x-factor for the Angels in their rotation this season. If Ohtani and Syndergaard are healthy and in good form, Detmers pitching well would finally give the Angels a great rotation.
He is going into this start with an ERA of 3.12 and a 0.69 WHIP in his previous three attempts. While his effort on the road has been iffy, Detmers is on fire at Angel Stadium.
Detmers is going into Wedneday night with an ERA of 1.96 and a 0.57 WHIP at home. Opponents have a lackluster OBP of .160 versus Detmers through 23 innings.
Fortunately for Detmers, he’s at home tonight and should put the Angels in a good position to complete a two-game sweep. The Angels to win by at least 2 runs looks like a solid bet on the runline.
