We closed out the weekend with a second straight winner with the easy OVER on the Dodgers and Giants game as the Los Angeles Dodgers offense woke up and took care of the total by themselves. The blue crew tallied ten runs, roughing up starter Tim Lincecum for five of them and chasing him early in the second inning. The win was just the third for LA in twelve games against the Giants this year and widened their division lead to a game and a half (two games ahead of SF in the loss column).
It’s a light slate of games today with just seven games on the docket, but there are a few highlights including the Jays and Rays starting a key AL East series between surprising contenders and Clayton Kershaw taking on Wada as the Dodgers and Cubs begin their set. Let’s see if we can tread through the light slate and notch a third straight winner.

Today’s Free Pick:
Chicago White Sox +124 at Minnesota Twins -134 (Total: 7.5)
John Denks (3-7, 5.16 ERA) vs. Tommy Milone (3-1, 3.76 ERA)
A lot of people liked the White Sox heading into this season with the powerful young lineup and the addition of Jeff Samardzija anchoring the rotation with Chris Sale. However, it is the young upstart Twins that have been the story of the season in the AL Central. The enter tonight in second place, ahead of the Tigers, and posting a 37-32 record. Meanwhile, the White Sox are in dead last place, eight games under .500 and struggling to avoid a hopeful season turning into one of misery.
This is a big series for the ChiSox if they want to at least have an interesting summer. It doesn’t bode well that they are sending one of the poorest performing starting pitchers among qualifiers in all of baseball in 2015. Denks has struggled mightily all season long and is 0-3 with a 6.15 ERA in his last three starts.
Perhaps Denks can get back on track today. The Twins are scuffling offensively. They’ve lost ten of their last fifteen games and are hitting just .223 as a team in that span. But, let’s temper that hope with some reality – Denks is just 1-8 with a 6.78 ERA in his last eleven starts against the Twins. Joe Mauer and Torii Hunter especially own Denks, so look for them to factor in to tonight’s contest.
It’s hard to bet on Denks at this point, especially when his opposite number, Milone, has looked so good since rejoining the rotation after a stint on the DL. The Twins are a pretty reasonable price given the matchup advantages, so I’ll take a play on the slight favorite today.
